Our family and many of our friends have been patients at Gonzaba for many years. My parents were very well known patients of Dr. Tom Gonzaba. My daughter and her family are also patients at Gonzaba. My daughters Doctor keeps moving locations. She works many long hours so she has little time for her appts. She does not want to have to go across town for her appts. She prefers to go to the Pleasanton location. Where she first started. We have called to try and get her set up with a doctor at this location. They say there are no doctors accepting patients right now. My cousin went and she got accepted. Her granddaughter went and they told her they were only accepting seniors. My daughter has high blood pressure and she needs to stay on her meds. She said she was thinking of just dropping Gonzaba and looking for another clinic. I prefer she just stay with Gonzaba. I thought since she was already a patient with Gonzaba she would be able to switch Doctors at the Pleasanton location. I would like to know if it is true that Gonzaba is just accepting seniors. I would like for my daughter to continue with Gonzaba cause they have been our family doctors for many years.
The doctor I did have left Gonzaba’s medical group. I had to choose another doctor and after several choices was given a new doctor. I scheduled an appointment and received a call from Gonzaba to reschedule for a different date. I took off from work and went to my rescheduled appointment. They took my copay and sent me back to the waiting area. Shortly thereafter a nurse called my name and took me to a room to be weighed and etc… She then told me that the doctor was not accepting new patients. I explained to her that Gonzaba group was the one that told me he was and scheduled the appointment. She then asked what I was there for and I told her my 6 month checkup. She then again explained he wasn’t accepting new patients but that he would go ahead and see me. She also kept mentioning something about me going to the urgent care. I told her if he wasn’t going to be my primary physician then there was no sense in seeing him for a six month checkup and asked for a refund. I would stay far away from this medical group. They did refund my copay however, I had to take off of work for 4 hours and can’t get those hours back.
Very disappointed that I wasn't allowed to receive appointment till after 11am. I have been told that there are 2 appointments available each day with Dr. Wm Thomas Gonzaba yet I did not score one. Being that I've had 2 bad experiences with urgent care I no longer care to use that service. I was told only available appointment was with PA Ramirez therefore I could take it or leave it. I was upset by this time and in pain. I was finally seen by PA Ramirez. My vital signs reflecting my demeanor. Blood pressure was high as was blood sugar. I was even more upset when I found out there were appointments available. I wish I had the janitors phone number so they could deliver a message to girls in back. If this is how business is being conducted then I'm at the wrong place. I would like to be assured this will not happen again. It's totally unacceptable in my book. If any further details are needed, please feel free to contact me.
I love coming to Gonzaba Medical Facility ! I get the care and what I mean I get the care! It’s all around taken my concerns about my health into their hands! I’m not alone dealing with my self! I get the needs and attention, I need!! One less thing in life I have to deal with!! They always make me feel special and they actually care about me! What else can anyone ask for!!God gave me Gonzaba! Thank you Jesus!!!
I have been a client of Gonzaba Medical Group at 720 Pleasanton here in San Antonio for many years. I have been deeply impressed with their unwavering commitment to professional healthcare service. Gonzaba doesn't treat me like a mere number; Gonzaba demonstrates a consistent dedication to making me feel that how I am served, and my satisfaction with it, is very important to them. I have had other organizations attempt to fill my healthcare needs, and they have failed EPICALLY.One doctor that I went to at another medical service kept telling me, EVERY time I was in his exam room, "Crack is the worst thing that you can do." It made me FURIOUS! I am NOT a drug addict, and he treated me like trash, just because I like to dress comfortably. I am NOT homeless, and I am NOT a crackhead wino! I actually FIRED him, and asked for Gonzaba instead. That was over ten years ago.The healthcare professionals at Gonzaba Medical Group treat their patients with RESPECT, without judgement. Thanks to them, I have lost enough weight to no longer be obese, and I have lowered my A1C from 6.7 to 5.2, no longer pre-diabetic, and my blood pressure is not the problem that it once was. My father had suffered three heart attacks by the time he was my age. With Gonzaba's help, I have not yet suffered even ONE. I feel good with Gonzaba's care.
Dr. Ramirez and staff need to get it together. From scheduling issues to cancelled appointments that always happen on Fridays. Received a call from the office confirming our appointment for my father in law yesterday. Arrive at the Pleasanton location and attempt to check in to find out Dr Ramirez has moved locations and is now at Woodlawn. That would’ve been great to know yesterday with my appointment confirmation. My wife has had talks with Dr Ramirez trying to let him know issues and his response was “that’s how I’ve been doing it for so many years”. They overbook their office, over work the staff. Thankful for the nurses there for at least they care. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where you aren’t just a head count for Medicaid services. Save the hassle and take your loved ones to another doctor. We are switching care providers in hopes things get better.
Accompanied a patient today. As I walked into lobby Emily approached me telling "me go over there"Instead of good morning, May I help You. Then there was another lady pointing ( didn't get her name) her finger at me telling me you can't go back there. She could barely walk, holding on to the door, she needs to be told it's rude to point your finger to an adult.Lady at patient registration was much more professional informed me that cuz I wasn't on the list, I had to wait in the lobby. Which was fine, but these 2 employees need to be addressed how to communicate with visitors.
Used to be great but a steady decline recently. Personally, experienced two messed up scan appointments, first one being an MRI where the tech scanned my whole head when the doctor within Gonzaba only ordered a specific area, and second being an ultrasound where I had an outside referral that clearly stated NOT to do one type of ultrasound, yet they claimed the referral said to do it even though my exact copy says NOT to.On a much more serious note, they misdiagnosed my family member's cancer. If she had not gone to another doctor for a second opinion, she would be walking around with the advice from Gonzaba being that it isn't cancer. Incredibly dangerous and deadly misdiagnosis, so my family and I will be finding other doctors.
Disappointed that my doctor relocated to his downtown location and another campus. I cannot drive to those locations since Pleasanton campus is down my street . So , today tried to make an appointment with another doctor at Pleasanton but was told by rep , who did try to offer options ,they are not accommodating new patients and was told I would have to go to see my existing doctor over to his offices . I am a self pay and just saw him a few times this year . Needless to say I was told I can never go back to Pleasanton campus again . I was unaware you had to follow your doctor No matter where they are in this system plus no one will pick you up as a “new”patient there if an existing doctor is still in practice..I wasn’t notified about these changes or practices .oh well I have to find healthcare somewhere else .. soonUpdate ***the clinic reached out to me and offered a continuity of care if you will and set me up with their after hours clinic to bridge the gap until they found another doctor who would accept me as a new patient ! I wasn’t aware they could provide this service , so needless to say I am grateful!!! Thank you !!
I have been with Gonzaba Medical Group for a long time. The service that the medical staff provides always goes far & beyond. I have had the fortune to be in the hands of excellent doctors as Dr. Garcia-Gallegos, Dr. Valdez, and now Dr. Mendoza. Thanks you to all the personal that make our doctor's visit an easy, fast, and unstressed.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
