List of Steven P Kalter's Reviews
Great staff, they are so friendly. Dr. Kalter is the best oncologist in San Antonio, Tx. I been looking for someone to cure my blood condition for 10 year and 7 of them was here in San Antonio ; yet nobody knows what i had but Dr. Kalter . His diagnosis was right and he put me on treatment and i am thankful to him i am gaining my strength and health back.I can’t be more thankful to Dr. Kalter and his staff.I truly appreciate their hard work and endless efforts to help patients in need.
This is more about wait times... Pt has appt at 2pm but isnt seen for another 2 or more hours??? It is always like this.. do not understand why these cancer pts have to sit for hrs to be seen, aren't these pts going through enough? Its exhausting sitting there in uncomfortable chairs too. Their time is precious, whoever does scheduling needs to be more efficient.
Dr. Kalter has treated me for several years. My rare condition has steadily improved with no side effects. He is attentive, listens carefully, is highly intelligent, and knows what to do. He prefers the least invasive approach to treatment, and, in my case, it has been very effective.
Dr. Kalter literally saved my life.
I respect what doctors and medical professionals do for their professions, their jobs aren't easy by any means. However, I am completely dumbfounded where it is ok for a doctor to not communicate with the family about a treatment plan for a family member. Especially when the one requesting communication is the medical power of attorney. I understand that doctors go through a rigorous curriculum, they should go through some courses in effective communication and compassion. I am willing to give a doctor the benefit of the doubt unless a pattern has been established. No doctor is ABOVE calling a family member back especially when they are tasked with making decisions for the patient with incomplete information due to the doctor's poor communication and frankly poor attitude. While this is a little google review, I would have preferred to have had this conversation in person but you refuse to contact the family. While you're an older doctor who probably has some entitlement due to tenure I hope that you are able to accept some feedback and grow as a professional for your next patient.
He's very caring and kind
I cannot express the kindness Dr Kalter & his staff show. Dr Kalter does not only treats the immediate, he plans ahead in his treatment in case things change. I am very impressed & pleased & highly recommend!
I have been in Dr Kalter's practice for 8 yrs. He's an outstanding MD and I have complete confidence in his recommendations. I have a very rare form of leukemia but that's hardly an impediment to his work. When I have a bizarre lab blood workup, he quickly sorts out the important from the nits. If I have a downturn, I know he'll provide me the attention I need. Don
If Dr. Kalter is in a position where he doesn't know something, God forbid you ask him questions about your dying family member. He snapped at me in the hospital for asking questions. I've never experienced this kind of disrespect or tantrum from a Dr. In my life. Other reviews describe him as short and rude and that is right on the money. He cares more about his pride than he does his patients. Worst Doctor I've ever encountered and I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.
Don't see Dr. Kalter if diagnosed with Amayloidosis. He doesn't know how to treat the disease and gets offended when questioned. It's because he doesn't know answers but doesn't want to tell you that. Instead, he'd rather let your loved one die. Worst doctor i've ever come across in my life.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
