List of Ramesh Hariharan Md's Reviews
Dr. Hariharan is an amazing cardiologist. I felt immediately comfortable with him the moment I met him. And, as people always say, " go with your gut feeling". He literally saved my life during a procedure that had complications. I am so fortunate that he was my surgeon when this all happened. I would not be here, I feel sure, if he had not been in the operating room and acted in a split second. I would recommend him to anyone!
Absolutely the best, all around.
Dr. Hariharan is a very accomplished cardiac specialist with a great bedside manner. I had an electrical issue that had bothered me for many years. Through a systematic approach to identifying the exact issue he narrowed the problem down and in one very effective and efficient surgery got me back to 100%. Only concern is the wait time to see him. He is popular and he is busy. Update a few years on from initial review. Still no change to my review of Dr Hariharan specifically. He is a dedicated and talented specialist. Also want to emphasize that he is very busy and perhaps (from my perspective) could do with a lighter patient load or an increased support staff. What I do want to update is the importance of understanding risk, however small, with ablation procedures. My first ablation came with only a 2% risk of causing further issues that were not initially present. Dr. Hariharan made me aware of this risk but due to my overall health and young age he believed it was not a concern at all. Unfortunately I was in that 2% and the outcome of that first procedure has been multiple times worse than my original issues. 4 ablations later and still no solution. My quality of life has been dramatically reduced. Just want to ensure everyone does their homework and understands the risk going in. Make sure initial problems are not something you can live with and that the risk is worth it...
No communication with patient
Dr. Hariharan took over my case after I was admitted through the ER. I never met him until I requested to right before I was put under for a cardiac ablation. I was given the impression that he was doing the procedure but it was done by a Fellow who had to get one more ablation in before he finished his rotation and flew to Florida the next day. Do not go to this cardiac center at Memorial Hermann Med Center or allow Dr. Hariharan’s assistant take advantage of your condition and push Dr.Hariharan’s residents and Fellows on you so they can get their practice in.
Chose this doctor for my Mother as he was purportedly ‘the best’ when it came to electrophysiology. She is quite elderly and was due for a battery change on her pacemaker. On only one appointment - out of about 6 - did he even listen to her heart. The other times, he just stood in the room for a few minutes. Half the time, an associate showed up in his place, one even saying HE could do the battery change. Day finally came for the procedure. After my Mom got out, she told us Dr. Hariharan didn’t do it, just stood by while some younger doctor with about 2 years of experience did everything. We would never have gone to him if we had known this would happen.
I was told, Hariharan would be performing my ablation procedure. He did not. His fellow Dr. Hernandez did the procedure and Hariharan was allegedly in the room. While on the table about to be put under, I had to ask to meet him. There was zero direct communication from him either before or after. Post procedure he prescribed an unnecessary medication that had terrible side effects none of which were explained before being administered. If you have a choice do not go anywhere near Memorial Hermann Medical Center Houston or the Electrophysiology Department there.
Dr. Hariharan is an amazing doctor. I have seen him for 12 years. He was the only one that figured out I was having seizures from low blood pressure. Even now after some very severe medical problems he is the only one I trust with my heart.
After trips to 2 ER’s due to extreme fatigue and having the ER doctors tell my thyroid medication needed to be adjusted and that I needed a pace-maker because there was no medication that could fix my heart condition , I went to Dr. Hariharan and he put me on flecainide and that fixed the issue.
My dad’s experience was great with Dr. Hariharan. (Ablation Procedure) excellent results!! Very grateful!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
