Arrived at 10:05 for 10:20 appointment and not even checked in until 10:30 and didn’t see him until 11:40. People who arrived late for their appointments were checked in before us because “they were late” which is unacceptable!
Dr Kwaku is extremely knowledgeable, listens carefully, thorough, straight forward in his responses and compassionate. His accent requires careful listening however he is patient and willing to repeat or explain if the patient needs additional understanding. I highly recommend his practice.
I use a freestyle glucose sensor and he poured through all my data points and entries and really gave me some good instructions. Very knowledgeable of diabetes and all other associated conditions that arrive with it. On a personal note I like doctors that are more straight to the point and cut through your excuses and he does that very well.
Really like Dr Kwaku. I've seen several endo. doctors in the Tyler area and really like seeing him.
Dr. Kwaku has been my doctor for many years. He has taken care of my thyroid problems along with many blood test for my whole system. He knows my inside like a book. He's very up front and knows what's best for me. He is my daughter's doctor also and she thinks just as highly of him as I do.
Terrible bedside manner. He treated my father when in the hospital and was hateful and not helpful, basically saying he was stupid, although he had lived with diabetes for over 40 years which was a miracle in itself. I wouldn't let him treat my dog. He is hateful and very condescending.
My visits with Dr Kwaku are every 6 months, and with every visit he is personable and professional. His nurse and all other persons that came in contact with me are caring and have a good sense of humor which always puts a patient at ease.
He’s a great doctor. I’ve been seeing him for 12 years. He is treating me for pituitary issues.
He is a very good doctor but his office will s impossible to call and get an answer. On hold for 20-30 minutes and multiple times I have been hung up on. Messages to nursing staff are not relayed properly. Make appointments without even speaking with you to confirm. I would leave the practice due to this and not him personally.
He has a bad bedside manner. Today during my husband's appointment he told my husband that he doesn't believe the numbers written down for his A1 C. Kwaku said he's making them up. The nurse claimed Kwaku was having a bad day today however every time we visit he maintains the same attitude.
Dr Kwaku is an excellent doctor in my opinion. He almost always gives me important details about my different chronic illnesses my other doctors fail to tell me. I leave his office with new information every time and it’s useful. When he speaks, I listen.
Dr, Kwaku is an outstanding endocrinologist. He’s been so helpful and supportive in my care. And explained my options in detail and answered all my questions honestly. I think he’s great!
Dr. Kuwaku in my opinion has turned into a rude and narcissistic doctor who is too busy to listen to patient needs. Hands down, this past year of seeing him has been some of my personal worst experiences with a doctor-he did not used to be so unprofessional, but things have gone down hill. In my experience today during what should have been a five minute conversation; I was told I was a liar, he gave me the wrong medication, would not listen to my concerns, or help me to solve the issue with my pharmacy. Instead, I was told in an extremely rude and annoyed tone how many times I had called his office... (as if I did not have work and better things to do myself.) I am unsure if it is a cultural barrier or plain and simple lack of knowledge of basic human interactions and being kind, but I would never recommend him to a friend or family. What I would recommend is that he seek some self care and continued education!
I’m going to get another doctor
I went to Dr Kwaku after I refused to go back to Dr at Christus MF. Dr there took little time with me and gave me instructions to take same fixed amount of insulin three times each day! As a result, I overdosed five times in two years, and came close to dying. One time, when Paramedics got there, I was at 20, another 40, another at about 40. Only my wife saved me! Dr. leaky took a lot of time with me, and gave me a sliding scale for injections. He also changed my long acting injection to AM, not PM. I had an immediate, dramatic improvement in my blood sugar level. Cut it in half. Previously no one had told me when or how to take the injections. Dr Kwaku was a little difficult to understand with heavy accent, but I really liked him. He is an excellent Dr.
I would never recommend Maxwell Kwaku to anyone! Don’t ever go because he won’t allow you to go anywhere else once you are his patient. He is rude, disrespectful and literally verbally attacked me on my last office visit. I felt like crying but would not give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry. I attempted to switch doctors to the other doctor in the office but was told that him and her would have to talk. It is 6 months later I have not heard a word from his office or hers. Fortunately my insurance changed allowing me to go to Christus doctors. When I called his office for a referral to a Christus Endocrinologist he refused to send a referral. He forwarded my records but said since he was a specialist he could not refer to another specialist. Which is a lie!! It’s all about control and he wants all control. Fortunately I found out I did not need a referral! Thank the Lord I am done with him!! I am a healthcare provider. If I treated my patients like he does I would be fired!
I have been going to Dr. Kwaku for over 8 years. He has always been very knowledgeable, professional, and caring.
I think Dr. Kwaku is an excellent doctor. He remembers what you tell him. He checks your logs closely and makes changes to your medications as needed. He has always treated me with respect. I have been seeing him for over a year. He does labs when I come and I get the results within a day or two. I am very pleased with his service.
Dr. Kwaku is an excellent physician who displays great experience every time I come for my diabetic appointment. Today, like always, he thoroughly examined my feet, discussed lab results, offered solutions for weight gain, and determined ways to strengthen leg muscles. He is always so cordial and makes it easy for me to ask questions. I trust Dr. Kwaku and know that he cares about my health. I never feel rushed and can leave knowing that he is aware of my specific needs. My appointment today gave me reassurance how to keep making positive improvement. I am grateful for his care. Ken M.
He was very arrogant, dismissive of my questions, left the room several times to take phone calls. Stayed on the phone, standing up, while I was trying to ask questions and then told me "I was wasting his time" because I did not turn in a urine sample the way they wanted. I tried to the best of my ability but had no directions on what they wanted. Yes, I vowed never to return. Being respectful of other human beings is just... basic.
