I saw Dr Merrick in the office and he also performed my C6-C7 spinal fusion. I had a fantastic outcome. I never had to take any pain medication at all, only acetaminophen as needed. From the first day I was able to live my life normally. Before I saw him I had been suffering from nerve impingement for at least 20 years. I had immediate relief post op. He is also very kind and compassionate. He prayed over me which gave me such peace. I would also like to say that Marvin Dean Pennington who is Dr. Merrick's PA is also amazing. He did all of my follow up care. I suffered a fall which caused my neck to have pain about 4 months after my surgery. Dean ordered physical therapy which, over a period of months had me back in tip top shape. I feel better than I have in many years. I highly recommend Dr. Merrick and Dean and I have suggested to a number of people that they should seek treatment from them.

54 years ago I suffered a Compression Fracture of the L5 in my lower back. For many years, I have at times, had issues due to this fracture. Over the last four years of Chronic Pain, Doctors, physical therapy and Pain Management, which only treated the symptoms but not the problem, I came across reviews from patients of Dr. Michael Merrick. I found that most of the reviews expressed a common theme for the visits and care received from Dr. Merrick, good listener, good surgeon, resolved my problem, etc. While these comments are what I was hoping to find from patients, what led me to schedule an appointment with Dr. Merrick was the fact that many expressed, that Dr. Merrick would ask his patients' "if they minded him praying with them" before surgery. After one visit to Dr. Merrick, he "suggested" a lumbar fusion of the L4 and L5. Dr. Merrick said "When you are ready, let me no." No push, no dollar signs, just a man you cares about his patients. "I'm a new man with the same ole face"

Very good at listening as well as explaining complicated medical issues in laymen's terms that I could understand. I did not feel 'rushed in and out' as can happen with some doctors.
