I paid both Dr Stevens and Dr Weston a considerable amounts of money for advice on surgery that they said probably wouldn’t work, and for shots to numb my back pain multiple times, that didn’t work. I wasted a lot of time and money here. Their billing department is also a pain. Be prepared for $250 “surprise” bills 6 months later after you ask if you’re all paid and 0 balance.
Dr. Stevens and staff are amazing. I cant express how much he has help my family. When my mother needed back surgery, dr stevens is the only one i trusted
This doctor and staff will tell you NO to care you ask for and snicker while doing so. Doctors that say NO to common health tools are not good doctors and do not care about your health. Also if you do see this clinic, make sure to check your medical records often, they added some horrific info to mine that there is no chance I added to my documents they have you fill out. Not possible to confuse what they wrote in my medical records. There was a time I would have recommended Dr Stevens to folks, and matter of fact, I actually did. No longer can I suggest people visit this clinic. I actually feel like people should steer clear of this clinic. There are many other options out there with doctors and staff that actually care about your health and healthcare. Also, keep in mind the walls there are very thin, and doctors there speak loud. You will hear about others health problems and you will hear doctors make light of them. I first saw Dr. Stevens in 2015. I was impressed back then and Actually was able to see Dr Stevens the first visit. Then he's too busy and you see the other doctors under him. When I first started seeing him, I let him know my back was really bad, and I know its ruptured, and I asked for an MRI. They said they want me to do PT, chiropractor, decompression, electro therapy, stretches, exercises, etc. Ok, thats great, I like how you dont jump right into have surgery. But also, I know my body and its messed up bad, but ill try it to avoid surgery. This went on for over a year and I kept getting worse. Finally they send me in for an MRI. Yep, exploded disc. I actually was able to hear the doctors in the hall talking while viewing the MRI results and they were shocked at how bad it was and said they need to get that fixed ASAP. Yep, I knew that and wanted that done about 18 months prior. Now the problem is that I made it worse with everything I had to do before getting an MRI and there is permanent nerve damage due to the herniation against the nerves for as long as it was. I will say the surgery in 2016 was great. It was flawless and gave me my life back. Recovery was quick and easy and I was back to no pain and normal again in just a couple weeks. Fast forward 5 years.... Now they are too busy to care about anyone. You cant even see the doctor, and if you do, you get to see him for 2 or 3 minutes because he has no time to care for patients. You will get the feeling that they just want to get you in and out as fast as possible, and they don't like to answer questions. There is no empathy in the office other than Dawn. She is great. They dont want to get to the root of the problem, just guess work based on past experiences, and push injections to fix problems. If you ask for certain care you think will help you, they will flat out tell you no! A doctor that tell their patients NO is a doctor that should not be a doctor. Now lets not confuse things here. A doctor telling you no to getting more Opioids is a good doctor and looking out for your health. A doctor that flat out say NO to procedures designed to help diagnose and possibly fix health problems is not a good doctor for your healthcare. This doctor flat out said No to my simple request for a diagnosing procedure. Its my money, and my health and no danger to me or anyone. I am very glad though I was able to experience that with them. after being told NO and the NP snickering while telling me, It made me realize this is not the doctor for me and I was able to find a doctor that actually has my well being in mind and wants to care for me and get to the bottom of the issue rather than push you off on other doctors and his business partner that gives injections. I just hope my new doctor doesn't find out my surgery was botched somehow. I wish 5 plus years ago I would have searched out other doctors rather than go to the closest one to my house.
Dr Stevens performed my surgery, L4-5 fusion. I saw him due to severe spine problems causing very painful buttock and leg pain, radiculopathy. Dr Stevens assured me this would all be nonexistent after the surgery, I would be pain free. He made no mention that 50-60% of these surgeries result in Failed Back Surgery Syndrome; where the fusion itself was great but post op complications and permanent nerve damage causing extreme, irreversible bilateral buttock & leg pain, and opioid medication resistant is highly probable. I should have done my homework! My pain is uncontrollable and so severe, my life is now upside down and I'm having to look into other surgical procedures to help correct the damage caused by this surgical procedure. As a surgeon Dr Stevens had the obligation to truthfully educate me of the success rate, and probable life altering damage that occurs in patients afterwards. I had a right to this knowledge he held so I could make an informed decision.
The first surgery went okay. But follow up has been atrocious. He will not even see me unless there is something he can do surgically even though HE WAS THE one who did the first surgery. I have been having tremendous back pain in the area of my surgery. MRI was ordered and nothing was found so they referred me to some injection person who only made the pain worse. I am at my wits end. DO NOT go to him. He is arrogant and will not even make an appointment with you unless he can make money off a surgery. STAY AWAY
Dr Stevens performed surgery on my SI joint. He was very good at communication and most importantly was his surgery went better than I had hoped for. His staff took some getting used to but seem to get their jobs done. I felt better walking out from the outpatient procedure than I had in 20 years. I don’t really think about it now. Top notch. Day of surgery went extremely well. Highly recommended from this satisfied patient.
Dr. Stevens change my life! I had a collapsed disc that had caused me an enormous amount of pain. I also couldn't walk for a month. I had seen other doctors they just kept giving me shots and pills. Dr. Stevens saw my MRi scans and told me I need surgery tomorrow. I was nervous of course, but I'm so thankful for his expertise and skills. I literally walked out of the hospital 30 minutes after waking up from anesthesia. I got my life back, and have been pain free for the las two months. Thank you soo much!!
50 hours post op, this Surgeon and ths surgery are a blessing! Although my 2 level disc damage only presented itself a few months ago, I had to move fast to minimize long term nerve damage. Dr. Stevens was very professional and specific about my options (fusion vs. Disc replacement) Truth be told. I was a bit worried about the choice of procedures but I'm super glad I was a candidate for and chose the disc replacement surgery over fusion. The pain and discomfort is minimal and I'm looking forward to getting back to my very active lifestyle! This surgery only lasted a couple hours and although I don't remember any of it... I'll never forget it! I haven't fealt any arm numbness since the surgery and really can't believe how much i worried for nothing! Thank you Dr. Stevens!!!
I wish I could give a negative star. The office staff (Jodie) is absolutely terrible. Very unprofessional, extremely ignorant, and rude. My mother was in a terrible car accident causing excruciating pain by her sciatica nerve. She has been getting injections since August 2018. Today we went in to get another injection, they said a copayment of $47 was due today, she forgot her purse, so I was going to cover it. No big deal. Then they said that they needed to pull her back and talk about a past due balance of $97. (They never called to let her know of this) Jodie told my mother that the $47 & $97 had to be paid today. Without any call ahead to let my mom know of the balance, unfortunately she couldn't pay all of that today due to not knowing in advance. Jodie then decided to make a remark stating that they don't do loans, payments, accidents or even house lending. (Which is a smart a$$ comment) and should have never been said. Plus she's been seen since August 2018 for an Accident so I don't understand why she'd say that either. Whoever talks to a person this way is a very low individual. I could hear her from the lobby when my mother was pulled to the backroom! Have we forgotten HIPAA? Not to discuss information for others to hear due to privacy? (How Embarrassing) My mother wasn't asking for a loan or whatever and she definitely does not need to be treated like she's scum on the earth. She has always made the payments on time, and if there was any issue with insurance the office should have told her before scheduling her an appointment. The office also refused to give us any information to talk to someone higher up about this terrible experience. We will not be coming back. We also will not recommend this place to ANYONE!
My visit with Dr. Stevens with Mountain Pain and Spine was a large expensive waste of time and money. I met with this doctor due to back pain that I was experiencing in the thoracic area of my back. After visiting with Stevens for about 10-15 minutes, I was told that that there was nothing that he could do and that I just need to deal with it. Suggested physical therapy and prescribed me some useless anti-inflammatory medication that do nothing but irritate my stomach. A month later I receive a bill for $389.00. I understand now why people are fearful and reluctant to see the doctor. Worse off than then I started and now need a second opinion.
