They would not get back to me with the results of my tests after several phone calls an a month later. So I made an appointment to see them in their office, when I showed up they said I didn't have an appointment. Can't recommend them. Larry Johnson
I scheduled to see Dr Edwards and when I got there it was an Assistant I saw instead. The assistant said that Dr Edwards looked at my case and that he could do surgery! Why would I ever schedule for surgery with a Doctor who couldn't see me!! I'm going to another Dr. Also heard he was let go from another agency. I can see why!
I would recommend dr. John Edwards to anybody that is having problems with their shoulders. From the beginning he explained everything to me what was going to happen with the surgery to the very end. I would recommend him to anybody.
Dr. Edwards is so terrific. He really cares about you and takes the time to explain things. He is very personable.
Did both of my Shoulders!! He is the best around.
Dr. Edwards revised an ACDF spinal surgery that was a few years old. I wish he had done my original surgery. Dr. Edwards helped me to get my quality of life back. My range of motion is amazing now. Prior to my revised surgery long car rides would have me in tears, now not only can I drive and take long road trips, but I can now enjoy being the passenger on those long car rides without neck pain, without numbness and tingling. Dr. Edwards takes his time with you. He listens to you, he doesn't talk over you, he doesn't dismiss what you're saying about your symptoms. I wish all surgeons would take a lesson from him about the importance of not only being competent, but also having a caring human bedside manor. The staff in the office if always pleasant, always professional. It's simply an office that's run the right way, with an excellent surgeon at the helm. Thank you Dr. Edwards for everything!
Six months ago I had a 3 level back fusion, performed by Dr. Charles Edwards II. I wanted to wait to do a review until I had some experience with the results. I must admit after reading reviews prior to my surgery, I was skeptical that I would have as good a result as those who had already had their surgeries. They were almost “too good to be true!” Before my fusion surgery I was unable to walk more than 100 feet without numbness and pain down both my legs. We had a consultation with Dr. Edwards in August - hoping not to hear the word surgery but hoping for a less invasive solution to my problem. Dr. Edwards was very straightforward and said a fusion would be the best course of action. He did not pressure me for a decision but gave me time to pray about it. I was still unwilling to admit this was the way I needed to go. September came around and I almost fell walking not even 100 feet so I knew I had to do this surgery. I called the office and they had me come for a preoperative visit, did x-rays in the office and then we set the date. November 11. Dr. Edwards prayed with me before we went into surgery which was very comforting. He took the time to explain the procedure to my family the morning of the surgery. Mercy Hospital is a wonderful facility. I received excellent post-op care. I was discharged 2 days after the surgery. I had a great pt staff and they fully prepared me to go home. I won’t lie - the first 3 weeks were not fun. During that time no matter what my questions or concerns were, someone was always available to answer them. Even on Thanksgiving day a doctor called me back about an issue I was having. I am happy to report that I am now walking 2+ miles every day. I am so thankful that I took the risk of this surgery because my life was so restricted before but now I am able to do just about anything I want or need to do. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Edwards and his staff for any spine issues. I HIGHLY recommend Mercy Hospital as they treated me so well and gave me excellent post-op care. We praise God for this wonderful doctor and the way he gave me my life back.
Dr. Charles Edwards ll is a very compassionate man, a skilled and truly knowledgeable surgeon. I was researching over a year to find a great doctor, it paid off. I sought out Dr. Edwards for a severe burning on my left shoulder blade area and neck pain. I had already had a 3 level fusion C4, C5 and C6 done in Colorado 12 years ago when I met Dr. Edwards. After an MRI and X-rays Dr. Edwards explained to me that my C3 disc needed to be replaced and fused (he originally wanted to just do a simple disc replacement, however my insurance would not cover a disc replacement) Dr. Edwards believes in minimally invasive surgery. Reluctantly we both decided the fusion had to happen. After surgery I noticed immediately that the burning I had felt on my back shoulder for 3 years was gone. Dr. Edwards had prayed with my husband and myself before surgery, prayers were answered. Dr.Edwards and his staff are remarkable and very polite people. I definitely recommend them.
I went to Dr. Edwards 5 years ago to assess my L4-L5 discomfort. We talked through it thoroughly. I initially liked him because he didn't rush to perform surgery. We attempted to strengthen my core, and increase blood flow in the region. After 5 years it degraded further, and I went to discuss options. Xrays reflected surgery was necessary. I'm 64 and have seen many doctors over my lifetime. From the time we committed to conduct surgery to the end of my last visit on 2/19/20, he was incredible and the staff amazing. He claimed I could see as much as 90% relief. As of today I'm seeing and feeling 99% pain free. While I am truly blessed and impressed with the surgical results, I was equally impressed with the daily, weekly, monthly attention the staff provides. Mercy Hospital is a top notch place, and the 17th floor is dedicated to spinal surgeries with a staff of nurses that understand every aspect of you pain and recovery. He and his team gave me a week by week understanding of recovery process, pain management, and shaped my expectations. While the initial pain and recovery is very challenging, the light at the end of the tunnel(relief), was amazing. I don't want to undergo surgery again, but if I do, I will run to Dr. Edwards and insist on Mercy Hospital
I looked into the Maryland Spine Center because of the good experience of a neighbor. We live three hours from Baltimore and had consulted doctors in WV and PA. I am so happy we went to Mercy Hospital and Dr. Edwards. My L4/L5 fusion was three months ago. The pain is gone. and I am leading a normal life including walking and skiing. More importantly, this was one of the best surgery/hospital/doctor experiences I have ever had and I have had too many! I cannot say enough about how knowledgeable and caring Dr. Edwards is. In addition, the hospital staff all went out of their way to make my stay - and my husband's stay with me as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
