Dr. Melvin is great but his office staff is the worst. I have never in my life had procedures scheduled by a doctor’s office (colonoscopy and scope), but the receptionist never inform me of the date & procedure scheduled. Then Dr. Melvin accused me of “no-showing,” defending his staff who repeatedly made appointments I was not aware of. Dr. Murday uses the same scheduling staff, and they scheduled me for an AR Manometry Scan, without telling me what the appointment involved or the prep needed. So an hour before the appointment, Dr. Murday was so angry I hadn’t done the prep, but I had never been informed of it by her assistant. At this point, Dr. Melvin’s office has “scheduled” me for two colonoscopies, and I have found out on the day of the procedure that it was cancelled without notifying me. Both times, I had done the full bowel prep, which is miserable and extensive. The office staff doesn’t record their mistakes, so it looks like the patient is being flaky. I would look anywhere but here for a colorectal surgeon.

Very disappointed in our meeting with the Doctor. Our appointment was arranged but our regular doctor for a pacific problem. The doctor didn't want to address it. It was to simple of a fix not worth his time. Did try to talk use into a big survey that isn't necessary to fix problem.

Never got back to me after doing MRI even after I called them.

Great doctor, very good with explaining the problem and corrective procedures, surgery was done at Alta View outpatient site, my 1st time there, great nursing staff, nice facility. Will highly recommend them all

Dr. Melvin is Amazing! He is my favorite Dr. he’s very caring and does everything to make you feel comfortable and understood. He takes the time to go over everything with you and will answer all your questions. I was diagnosed last year at 37 with colon cancer and Dr. Melvin is helping me through it . Every time I leave his office I feel so much better . He’s done 2 surgeries on me , the first one I had a blockage and had emergency surgery , I had an ileostomy for 5 months , the last surgery was to remove my tumor and do a colon resection. I am so grateful to Dr. Melvin! In March I had a late term miscarriage. Due to the circumstances of the miscarriage along with the stress it caused, I developed what seemed to be an infection in my buttocks. After doing some online research, I found out that it was most likely a "pilonidal cyst", which was actually, at least in my case, not a cyst at all, but an abscess. I went to my PCP, and she completely misdiagnosed it as a varicose vein and refused to do an incision and drainage. I was in so much pain though, and I knew her diagnosis was wrong, so I went to the urgent care. The doctor there diagnosed it as a "pilonidal cyst", and he did the I&D that I needed. The pain was gone for about a month, and then it returned. I later found out the reason it returned is because he didn't do a deep enough incision and he didn't have me pack it, so the infection never fully drained and it didn't heal on the inside. (Info given to me by Dr. Melvin). When it returned the second time, the urgent care was closed permanently, so I went to another doctor. This internist agreed it was a pilonidal cyst, but seemed too timid to treat it. He did a tiny incision in the wrong spot and there was no pain relief. I immediately knew he didn't treat it correctly. It seems to be common thing for doctors to not know how to treat this condition properly! I went home very discouraged and did more research about doctors in the area. I ran into Dr. Melvin's webpage and it said he had experience treating pilonidal disease (another term for this condition). I called his office and they were able to fit me in immediately. Dr. Melvin knew exactly how to treat this condition. He made a deep incision and he had me do a packing/dressing change twice daily. Each week I visited him he put silver nitrate in the wound to promote healing. It took 6 weeks, but my wound finally was healed properly from the inside out. My last visit with him was about 2 months ago and I am still pain free with no reoccurance! Also, his bedside manner was great; very polite and respectful. Thank you Dr. Melvin!
