Matthew Poulsen's Online Review Report Card

I see there are some negative reviews here. A little reminder for you folks...you have accountability in your care as well, it's not all on the physician to just fix you. If YOU do YOUR part and go to therapy, communicate effectively, and actually tell Dr. Poulsen what you need, you'll do great. He can't read your mind, and imaging only shows so much. Anyway... If your knee or shoulder hurts, go see Dr. Poulsen...there is no one else in Utah who cares as much as him. He is kind, caring, and made me feel safe when I was scared of surgery. He is well known at Utah Valley hospital...like every employee I encountered who knew him told me how good of a choice I made with Dr. Poulsen and they all sang his praises. For a first surgery experience...it was amazing to have a surgeon who has that kind of reputation with his colleagues. (He is only there on Mondays...and they all know him...) I had arthroscopic and regular surgery on my left shoulder to remove a ruptured bursa, shave my collar bone, and repair my rotator cuff in 3 places. Recovery was easy. I'm already almost back to full range of motion and it's only been 3 weeks. After surgery, Dr. Poulsen found my husband, whom he remembered as a patient from 2017! He asked how my husband was doing, they chatted for a few, then talked about my surgery. He gave my husband all the recovery info and made sure we were both comfortable with going home. Surgery was actually our LAST option. We tried everything we could before we went to the extreme. Much love for Dr. Poulsen and his staff, I can't express my gratitude with words...and that's saying something since I'm a tech writer. If you're debating about it...stop. Just go see him. You won't regret it. Dr. Poulsen is a true healer.

Truly exceptional is the experience I had under the expert care of Matthew Poulsen. The level of service he delivers is unparalleled. Matt was remarkably adept at addressing my concerns with my hip, hamstring, and knee, showcasing not only stunning skill but exquisite care. His performance was simply stellar, exceeding my expectations. I have known Dr Poulsen for many years. In addition to being an excellent doctor and surgeon, he is a trusted friend. We’ve shared many miles on early morning runs over the years. He’s bright, kind, and driven. He’s the type of person who brings out the best in everyone around him. This is evident in and out of his office and surgery rooms. He’s performed arthroscopic surgery on my right knee, worked with two of my sons and their sports injuries, and has been the go-to doctor for numerous friends. When making choices about someone who will prioritize my health and support my ambitious dreams to be active for years to come, I’m confident I getting the very best service from Dr Poulsen. If you are looking for someone who will take the best care of your knees and shoulders, I highly recommend Dr Poulsen.

Dr. Poulsen is great! He has a great bedside manner and is very good at explaining any questions. I had ACL surgery with him and it went really wel! The office and back staff is great and the facility is always clean. I can't say enough good things about dr pouslen!

Dr Poulsen is a compassionate and caring doctor. He cares about you as his patient. I was suffering from significant knee pain and surgery was needed. He made room on his surgical schedule to repair my knee and relieve my pain. He is very personable, genuine, and wants nothing but the best outcome. If I could add more stars to his rating, I would gladly do so. I highly recommend him and have recommend him to my friends and family. Thank you for being such a great doctor and surgeon.

Dr. Poulsen acted very professional and is personable. The practice is clean and comfortable. I hope that with feedback given to Dr. Poulsen after he gave a follow up phone call about our experience will improve some of the procedural practices I wish we had initially. I know no practice is perfect and communication between receptionist to doctors will have errors at times. I suggested afterwards that the doctor see patients first before ordering x-rays (in practice) to locate exactly where the problem is. That was not our initial experience and I feel that it would have cleared a lot of our concerns up if we had been seen first. He has since offered to remedy that mistake and has offered for us to come in for a free follow up visit/x-rays if we'd like. I feel that he is genuine in wanting to help us. We feel like the visit would have been 5 star had we been seen first and explained our unique case.

Dr. Poulsen did perfect work on my knee! He also helped my daughter through recovery when she broke a collarbone in a weird place. He's the best!
