List of Darin Checketts's Reviews
Be careful, this doctor will nickel and dime you when you visit him. I went in for a well checkup and he charged me $222 for mentioning a mildly swollen ankle. We spoke for 10 minutes about it and he suggested compression socks. Tanner Clinic was not willing to change this in any way.
I have found him to be very responsive. He ordered tests immediately on problems I was having. In addition, his PA has been very responsive in getting me referrals and in refilling medicine.
Shocked by the lack of listening and empathy. He outright refused to change my meds when I was having adverse side effects, and told my my blood pressure was fine, when I had weeks worth of very high readings (and a prior visit to his office) to the contrary. He waffled between not listening to any of my concerns or mocking them. I will never go back.
This doctor did not treat my high blood pressure, said it was fine, because it was only slightly elevated while in his office, despite many weeks of readings to the contrary that were very high, including one in his office a few weeks prior. I was having bad side effects from the meds I was on and wanted to change to another med. He ignored my request, told me I was fine and refused to help, metaphorically patted me on the head condescendingly and sent me on my way. Overall he was VERY arrogant, would not listen to my concerns, and I was in tears when I left over the lack of help I received.
Too busy, too arrogant, boarders on negligent
I would recommend Dr. Checketts to anyone looking for a caring doctor.
Dr Darin Checketts is an excellent primary care physician. Always kind and professional.
Granted, Dr. Checketts is an experienced doctor. However, he has lost sight of the need to listen to his patients. Also, to be more mindful of what he says in front of them. He told my father a few years back that, since he smoked, he more than likely had cancer. My father was dumbstruck. Still talks about it. He told me that I probably had emphysema before even looking at my x-ray. Who blurts things out like that to their patients?? I am looking for another internist.
Dr. Checketts has been my parents Physician for 15 yrs. My parents are in their 80's. I had high hopes he could provide excellent care and continuity for them. I have difficulty getting prescriptions renewed for them, getting a nurse to return a call within 24 hrs. As stated by other raters, I wait in waiting room unusually long. Dr. does not address all the issues you have come for, leaving you to call back to see what he is going to do. My father had edema in his calves and feet for 3-4 yrs. no work up to see why. My father said he pinched his feet and said "I like that you are wearing pressure socks". No diuretic given him. He began to get sores from edema bursting his skin--acute cellulitis due to lack of response. I had to take him to emergency room to rule out blots, cardiac failure, etc. When he is gone or out of the office , there is no one to cover for him, no dr. On call, no way to get hold of him. Secretary has taken messages and misplaced my phone number, leaving dr. To reply with a message with another family member 80 miles away, and leaving a prescription phoned in to a pharmacy 80 miles away. Tanner Clinic has had my phone on record for my parents for 3 years. And now they can't find a secretary's post it note? We are discontinuing our association with Dr. Checketts because, as my brother has stated, he is "inept".
I know Dr. Checketts personally from family and Church associations, but, unfortunately, I cannot recommend him as a physician. I find it impossible to communicate with him unless you schedule an appointment. His phone message States, "We are not in the office. Please do not leave a message. There will be no one here to listen to your message. No one will return your call." At an appointment, he may or may not be communicative with patients depending on his mood at the time. His medical assistant has severe communication problems and is very defensive and in a state of denial regarding any complaints or suggestions a patient might voice. If a patient shares any of these concerns with him, he becomes defensive and is as likely to terminate your relationship as a patient before questioning the competency of his medical assistant and team. Like other comments below, I have experienced issues with the sounds of jocularity in the halls while waiting for an appointment. I had an 10:15 AM appointment and did not see Doctor Checketts until 11:40 a.m. I will never seek "services" from Doctor Checketts again. Extremely dysfunctional, arrogant, and noncommunicative. Schedule at your own risk.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
