William F Edwards Md's Online Review Report Card

I was really happy with this doctor until my son started having extreme abdominal pain several years ago. I brought him in but this doctor could only say, "I don't know what's wrong. If it doesn't go away in a month, bring him back." I was really disappointed because my son was having pain occassionally that was so severe that he'd be doubled over and fighting back tears. I'd think some tests or a referral to a specialist would have been in order. I tried to get a second opinion from another doctor at this same clinic (Alpine pediatrics) but was told the same thing. It made me super frustrated. The pains went away for a year or two but came back. When I took my son in again, they finally ordered some tests and referred me to a specialist. The other thing that has disappointed me is that Dr. Edward's does not have any training on how to diagnose depression in children. I thought all doctors needed to know that. He also has a very old and outdated questionare for determining if a child has autism. I know it's outdated because of my training I've done since then for my job that teaches what the signs are and also my own personal research.

Dr Edwards was instrumental in diagnosing my daughter’s Retinoblastoma and my son’s Cystic Fibrosis. He also treats my children with ADHD and complex medical issues. Highly recommend!

I liked a lot of things about Dr. Edwards, however, when the time came to wean my son to milk he didn't take my concern that my son was allergic to milk very seriously. He seemed to assume that I was one of those crazy anti-dairy people (I'm not--my husband and I love dairy). As such I had to do a lot of guessing and figure out alternatives for myself. I was disappointed and switched to a different doctor.

Dr. Edwards is a great doctor! He always validates my concerns and takes plenty of time with us. I never feel like we are taking up too much of his time. He is patient and explains everything and is the first to admit when he doesn't have all the answers. Remember to schedule well child visits far in advance although you can always make a same day appointment for a sick child. I have not had pleasant experiences with other doctors from Alpine Peds. who chose to ignore some serious issues my child had although the PAs at Saratoga have always been great as well.
