Dr. Cortez became my mother's nephrologist after she moved to the area. Her kidneys were at stage 5 Kidney failure and she was put on dialysis. Before seeing her in the hospital, Dr. Cortez took the time to read ALL her records from other hospitals. My mother's previous nephrologist (in another state) had said that kidney stents are not proven to work, etc. and wouldn't recommend them. Dr. Cortez did recommend the stents and now NO dialysis! He is a problem solver and a lifesaver for my mom.
He answers questions, is easy to talk with, takes time and doesn't rush the appointment
This man is an excellent Nephrologist. Plain and simple. After being diagnosed with acute renal failure due to a severe allergic reaction to clindamycin. He did everything going he could and finally managed to get me kidneys to bounce back along with my sodium levels. I was quite literally on my death bed when admitted to the hospital and he took great care of me. From a creatinine score of 10.9 on admittance too 3.1 and a sodium level of 102 to 146. He totally changed my disposition.
My husband has been to many specialist- bad and good and Dr. Cortez is one of the best we have seen. He is caring, very knowledgable, and explains disease processes in great detail. We had to take our baby with us for the appointment and Dr. Cortez actually held our crying baby while he explained my husbands condition. Could you ask for a better doctor? I think not! Great practice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
