First off, let me start by saying I have a huge fear of surgery, especially going under and the after care. I was a nervous wreck waiting in pre op the morning of my surgery. Dr. McKinlay was so kind and patient with me when he made his rounds on me. Helped ease my anxiety. And then he visited me after surgery AND called a couple days later to make sure I was doing okay. Couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon. Thank you for giving me my life back!!!

He really cares and took great care of me while I was struggling with strictures from my Crohns. Thank you!

He went out of his way to accommodate operating at a different hospital which saved me thousands of dollars. He also met with me after the surgery and explained what to expect down the road. His surgery was fast and as advertised in every way. I have had no complications and would recommend him to anyone!

I had gastric bypass in 2018 through a different surgeon. I’ve had complications since then, but have overall done well. I work closely with Dr. McKinlay and the other surgeons at Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians as a social worker at St. Marks Hospital and have heard incredible things, but never had a firsthand experience until last night. I went to the ER with symptoms of a bowel obstruction, something I’ve unfortunately experienced before. Dr. McKinlay happened to be the bariatric surgeon on call and decided from my scans and history that going into the operating room was the best call. There he found scar tissue that was creating a narrowing in my small intestines, something that has likely been causing issues for me for quite some time. He fixed me up and is confident this will resolve my issues going forward. Not only did he solve a pretty miserable problem, he was SO kind and knowledgeable. He made me feel comfortable in a very terrifying situation. It is so wonderful to have confirmation that the surgeon so many of my patients are seeing is talented, knowledgeable, and has a heart of gold. Thank you so much Dr. McKinlay!

I had gastric bypass surgery with Dr McKinlay in 2020. He did a great job. It was a major life change for me. He took into consideration all of my unique health problems. He helped to manage my pain after surgery which was more than most people have. I never felt like a bother or an inconvenience. It has been over 2 years and I am very happy with the results. Thank you Dr McKinlay.

He is a phenomenal surgeon! He gave me my life back. I am sooo thankful that I pursued a gastric bypass. Thank you again!

I have had an amazing experience with Dr. McKinlay. He is an incredible surgeon and has a very warm and friendly bedside manor. I have had zero complications and feel great. Of course I’ve followed all of his advice and prepared myself mentally and physically for my surgery. I trust Dr. McKinlay and would recommend him too those closest to me.

I have had many complications I've had to return 3 times for an endoscopy with dilation. I'm no longer able to eat or even drink I've called several times to try to get his help His nurse wont even return my phone calls I have to go to my local ER to get IV fluids to keep myself hydrated No other gastroenterologist will even look at me because McKinley is the one that did the original surgery That is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard of!!!! All I need is a dilation and nobody will help me It looks to me like nobody really cares

Dr. McKinlay is a fantastic surgeon and the most caring Dr. that I have ever seen. He literally saved my life with his expertise skills as a surgeon. I spent 30 days in the hospital and he was there every single day to check on me and discuss what was going on. Such a wonderful caring doctor. I and my family will be forever greatful to him. We can't thank you enough!

My experience with Dr. McKinlay was above and beyond. He is knowledgable and professional. He is an incredible surgeon. He is personable and really cares about his patients. I have spoken highly of him at every opportunity.
