He's super nice & easy to talk to! I'd refer him to anyone!!
Dr. Poole does a fine job … if you can ever get in. I’m a continuing patient who needs an annual laryngoscopy. I called in May to schedule a procedure for August, but wasn’t able to get in until September. Then in July his office called to say he wasn’t going to be in on my appointment day, so they wanted to reschedule me to his next available appointment IN NOVEMBER. I called early, but because of their mistake I got shunted to the back of the line SIX MONTHS after the date I originally called, and three months after my prescription expires. I left a message at his office to see what to do about the prescription, but they hadn’t called back by the end of the day and now it’s the weekend. If you are a new patient, I recommend you find a less busy doctor with a more responsive staff.
I had my 15-year-old in today for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. I expected someone to come and sit down with me for five minutes and really explain things. Instead he handed me some papers and act very annoyed with any questions.
Dr. Poole diagnosed me with ulcerative colitis when I was 17. He may be helpful with minor medical issues but if you have a chronic illness DO NOT GO TO HIM! He would not listen to me when I told him the medicine wasn’t working and I just kept getting sicker. Less than four years later I finally went to a new gastroenterologist who had me hospitalized because I had gotten so sick. I absolutely would not recommend him.
So my Mother asked his staff that when the Doctor finally sees her, after his medical assistants and every one else has yalked yo her that he be up to speed about her issues. But when he comes into the room that’s when he starts reading over her file. So not only does he have us wait (which I know is normal) but right after a biopsy a patient wants to know if they have cancer or not ASAP. He didn’t appreciate at all the fear and anticipation we had been through. He was unkind and unempathic.
Dr Poole is so kind, patient and listens. He's been my doctor for many years. Because he is so good at his job its a little hard to get in to see him but the wait is well worth it.
My initial interaction with Dr Poole left me feeling empty, unsupported, and confused about my condition. When I was diagnosed, it was announced matter-of-factly, without sensitivity, as if I was being told I needed to change a tire on my car. He didnt leave 2 minutes for me to process and ask questions before he was out the door. However, after formally arranging time with him, he seemed very knowledge about Crohns and was capable of answering my questions and settling my fears. Proficient.
Had an Endoscopy done and was in and out in under 2 hours. Everything went well. He was very polite and answered all questions afterwards. Staff was also very nice and professional throughout the procedure.
Dr. Poole is a knowledgeable and competent gastroenterologist. I agree with a previous reviewer that touch-feely is not his style, rather he gets down to business. However, he seemed surprised and a bit miffed that I asked a fair number of questions. It is important to me to be a participant in my health care, and Dr. Poole doesn't seem to be interested in that kind of rapport.
Dr. Poole is in high demand. He's thorough but he doesn't waste any time either. He gave me the information I needed, no more, no less. If you're looking for a "touchy-feely" experience, he's probably not your man. But if you want a skilled professional who is effective and accurate, he's just the Gastroenterologist you need to see. I'm definitely going to return to see five years from now.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
