List of Albert W Coo Md's Reviews
I've been a patient of Dr. Coo's for many years now. He has always be exceptionally responsive, listens carefully, and discusses and concerns I may have during our checkups. My health has been excellent under his care, and I couldn't be more pleased.
It’s hard to find a doctor nowadays who takes time to explain and clarifies your queries; all the more rare to find someone who calls back. The best doctor is the one who genuinely cares for the well being of his patients. We found that with Dr. Coo.
My visit is for my routine check-up for my Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Coo is a very nice doctor and I have been his patient for several years.
I saw Dr Coo 15 years ago and again this year after having a professional 'falling out' with another doctor. My health had been in decline for awhile. I was pleased with the response from this office. . . . on a scale of 1 to 5, I rate them as 6+. That means I don't have to worry about them doing their jobs. I would suggest that you confirm all appointment dates, etc., and keep a journal of contacts. Kathy had my file open and knew more than I could remember. Would not surprise me if Dr Coo wore Jedi Master robes to the next appointment . . . .(psst! its just before Halloween! :D).
Dr Coo has literally saved my life. He is an excellent endocrinologist. Professional, no nonsense and will even call you at home if necessary.
Dr. Coo is patient and professional. His staff are friendly and he knows his business when it comes to medicines. He is an excellent doctor! Considering the number of diabetes doctors in VA; he is my top choice!
Dr. Coo is an outstanding doc. I waited 6 mo to get a new patient appt with him — and he was definitely worth the wait. I searched specifically for an endo who was open to prescribing natural dessicated thyroid for hypothyroidism and because of positive reviews. For the first (new patient) visit, I brought a stack of paper with my complete medical history, a list of current symptoms big and small and my list of drugs. Dr. Coo spent an HOUR with me, reviewing my history, asking questions and answering mine. He really listened which was a relief after a number of doctors who didn’t. When answering my questions, he spent time providing well-thoughtout and detailed answers. Dr. Coo ran a wide array of lab tests as part of my first visit and the results came in 2 reports. When each report came back, he spent time on the phone explaining individual results and then providing his overall diagnosis. Then he outlined his recommended treatment, wanting to add a drug to my mix. There were 3 possibilities and he explained each one, describing pros and cons, and then we made the decision together. Dr. Coo is extremely responsive when I’ve called or emailed him with questions and concerns. He responds the same day and often in less than 3 hours — and it’s ALWAYS him on the phone or email. I had an initial problem with the new drug described above and he responded in less than an hour. Subsequent appointments have been shorter — but that’s due to their follow-up nature. I’ve never felt rushed as I sometimes do with other docs. He also makes me feel like a partner in my own health, such as in discussions about treatment options, medicine dosages, etc. Dr. Coo’s office isn’t fancy by any means so don’t expect it to be bright and shiny. But he shines and is completely worth it.

He spends a good amount of time listening and will adjust medications accordingly. Positive and thorough. Determined to find solutions.
Dr. Coo is an excellent endocrinolgist treating my Type 2 Diabetes. He listens to my concerns and is not hesitant in trying new things in my treatment.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
