OMG!!!!!!! The operator was so naive and rude. I wanted to make an appointment but because of her attitude there is no desire left to go there.
I had seen his brother several yeRs ago for kidney stones but when I called Potomac Urology for an appointment concerning a female issue they recommended Dr. Alok because he specializes in female issues. I was impressed at the ease of making an appointment and his thoroughness. He wanted to know about other health issues I was experiencing to enable him to consider all factors that might be causing my symptoms. He’s a keeper!
Although Dr. Desai is a personable fellow, I have been largely disappointed with our patient/doctor relationship. I have asked three times for the doctor to call me in order to answer my questions but I have not heard from him. I purposely schedule appointments on a day during the week when he is scheduled to be there, but he rarely is. I will find a urologist who could be more interested in helping me.
I was at Dr.Alok Desai's office yesterday , I was their 3 years ago and nothing has changed. He's still caring, kind and listens to All Your needs. I didn't rushed at all and I was able to talk to Him and understood all He said. From making the appointment to checking in was so easy I went to His Alexandria office which I love. I was also so happy to see His nurse Zenaida She remembered Me and made Me feel like I was their yesterday what a great welcome back. I recommend Dr.Alot Desai He's the best and so is His staff. Thanks Maryann Mazza
I'd like to say I was at Dr. Alok Desai's office 10/11/14 and loved Him and His staff. Well I had to return yesterday 09/9/17 and nothing has changed, He's a kind, caring and concerned Dr. I didn't feel rushed and I felt He cared and listened to My concerns just as before . I was so happy to see some of the same staff which is so kind from making the appointment to checking in at the front desk ,this is His alexandria office. His fabulous nurse Zenaida She recogonized Me and We gave each other the biggest hug that is a great feeling going to the Dr. and being welcomed so wonderfully. I oved Dr. Desai and if needing a Urologist and not wanting to wait 3 months for an appointment give them a call You'll see I'm telling the truth.
Dr. Desai is a good doctor, but watch out for his incompetent administrative staff. The Office Manager, M.J. Tortell was rude and when I asked to speak with the doctor, she refused. When I asked that the doctor call me back, she told me that there was no way that was going to happen. While it may be true that certain medications cannot be prescribed after two years without seeing the patient, the administrative staff should've informed me of this rule, but failed to do so. Now I am left with an 89 year old mother who needed this medication and now cannot get it in a timely manner. I understand that sometimes there are glitches in procedure, but the way Dr. Desai's staff handled this matter was totally unprofessional and disgusting to me. I asked Ms. Tortell if she considered herself a medical professional and she answered "NO". Enough said. I would not take my mother back to this practice if you paid me.Oh ... by the way ... the medication in question was originally prescribed in March of 2016, so Dr. Desai's staff was also incorrect in saying that they had not seen the patient for over two years, when in fact it was less than a year. Also, the prescription had been requested from my pharmacist five days earlier, and instead of Dr. Desai's staff calling me and telling me that the prescription could not be filled because of the "time limitations" so that I could make an appointment to straighten this out, they did nothing ... which resulted in the interaction as stated above, and as a result the Office Manager Tortell had a "take it or leave it" attitude. When dealing with health matters that we have paid good money for we rely on not only the doctors, but their staff as well. The two go hand in hand. A chain is no stronger than its weakest link, and Dr. Desai's weak link is his staff. I will never go back!!
I am a patient of Dr. Alok Desai and am also a retired nurse with a complex medical history. He is the greatest. I had surgery, saw him as an outpatient, what more can I say? He and his office staff were great, he is a skilled surgeon, he cares about his patients and does the best he possibly can. I have had way too many surgeries and medical problems and been to a lot of specialists. He is the berries! You'll love him. I love him and trust him. You can't do better.
I loved Dr. Alok Desai, I went to His Kenmore office in Alexandria. He and His staff where very nice and proffesional. I had a procedure done He was caring and spoke to Me thru it and once it was over He spoke to Me. I had to go to the office the week before the nurse assisted Me then called Dr. Alok in woodbridge to authorize a prescription due to a problem I had. It was handled quickly and efficiently. I would recomend Him in a second just as My Dr. did. Thanks Maryann Mazza
Dr. Alok Desai is recommended by other doctors. These doctors cannot be his patients. I have just spent 2 weeks of my life under his "care". After a simple surgery, his rude staff gave me wrong medications instructions. I was unable to directly contact him- it finally got straightened out after 5 phone calls_ to his staff . They were incorrectly going back and forth with him. At the final appointment he told me I was imagining this. I will never go back to him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
