I’m in the market for a pediatrician as I’m new to the area. This practice is down the street from my house and my daughter is in need of a physical for sports. I called to see if I could get a sports physical and I was immediately questioned if am I just looking for a physical or am I looking for care and I said “well for now the physical and we’ll see how my daughter feels at this practice” and the representative told me that if I wasn’t planning on staying that he wasn’t allowed to book an appointment for me. This leads me to believe that they were denying me care. He let me know that that’s what management wants so that’s how he has to proceed. He was very polite, but the practice seems questionable and very disappointing. I’ll take my daughter’s care elsewhere with pleasure.
Very professional and friendly staff, quick appointment scheduling time, short wait time, and very child-friendly environment!
Dr. Hopper is the sole reason I visited the Duke Street location for the first time. However, I’m giving this location a 1-star rating not because of the doctor, but because of the RN, Anjun. I informed Anjun that my daughter was on iron medication prescribed because her Iron was low when they pricked her finger in the past and that was something I wanted to discuss with the doctor during the visit. She checked the system and confirmed that the iron levels were indeed low, but she couldn’t locate the blood results from LabCorp. So for that reason she just decided to prick my daughter’s finger again to check her Iron. When the doctor arrived, he easily found the blood results from LabCorp and informed me that those results was normal so if she would of took her time and found the lab results all this would of been avoided her not having to prick my daughter‘s finger in this incident would’ve never occurred and me leaving this review. The main reason for this review is that when Anjun brought the tray with the device to prick my daughter’s finger, I noticed blood on the tray. I wasn’t sure if it was dry or not, but it was too late to stop her since she was already collecting the blood sample for my daughter’s finger. This is a major health violation for an RN to bring a tray with blood on it. There’s a risk of contamination. To make matters worse, when Anjun finished everything and was leaving the room, she dropped the tray, and blood got on the floor. She picked up the tray, hesitated to use the sample, but then decided to get another tray and get another sample done. She left the room, returned, and brought another tray with another prick device to collect another blood sample. The old tray that had fallen was still in the room and placed it next to the new tray when she pricked my daughter’s finger again and turned to get the gauze to clean the blood off. She ended up using the same gauze that had fallen on the floor that was on the old tray . I was frustrated and had to say something to her about what I was witnessing. I also realized after everything was all set and done that she hadn’t changed her gloves throughout the entire process. She had gotten on the floor and picked up everything with the same gloves on. Overall, she definitely needs to be talked to about this major Health violation and as a parent. I’m worried and wanted the practice to know as well, along with everyone else.
We love this place, especially CPNP Meghan Seaman. She is absolutely wonderful with both my daughters and son. Really listens to my kids, super thoughtful and engaging. Also, they are always on time even at the end of the day, and have extremely convenient hours and locations!!
I heard back same day for something important for my child. Got same day telehealth appt and as always treated with care and respect.
My son has been a patient for 8 years and always receives great care. However, each time we have an appointment, we’re seen well after our actual appointment time. Today we had an appointment scheduled for 9:45 a.m. and arrived 10 minutes early. We weren’t taken to a room until 10:05 a.m. and are still waiting to be seen at 10:30 a.m. This is unacceptable. While I understand time can occasionally run over, better systems need to be in place as it relates to scheduling to promote operational efficiency and a great patient experience.
We have been patients at the Potomac Yards location for 9 years. Great location! We moved close to the Duke Street location and I decided to switch to that office. First appt was nice. Short wait in the waiting room and in the exam room. Staff was very friendly. Second visit was today. Totally different experience. We were there just for a flu shot. We arrived 10 minutes early. My child is really anxious about needles and had psyched herself all day that it would be a great experience. The longer we waited the more anxious she became. We waited almost an hour while ppl that came after us were called to the back. The waiting room became really full and while ppl were waiting to check out, the receptionist was held up with a patient and the other one didn't bother to help nor did either one of them at least say we will.be right with you. Neither one was friendly or had great customer service. Eventually one receptionist left with a packed waiting room. When I finally asked the receptionist if we were checked in, she did apologize. She went to the back and came back. She assured me we were checked in, but I have my doubts. The nurse came right out and she was very apologetic as she'd seen us earlier in the waiting room. I definitely think there is room for improvement especially with front desk staff. Customer service and reassurance goes a long way.
This practice provides no grace period. As a new parent, even when I give myself an extra 45-60 minutes, any combination of things can still happen (cluster feeding episode, blowout diaper, traffic) that delays us. It doesn’t make sense to be geared towards children and expect everyone to be on time without *any* wiggle room. Then on top of that, every appointment has felt rushed. I leave feeling like the doctors aren’t really taking their time to hear and explore my concerns. The system for reaching a nurse with concerns is also not great. You all once sent me the most basic Google-able instructions when my son was suffering, not offering me anything I hadn’t already tried and not asking any further questions because it was just an email with pre-written instructions— not a conversation. You all have prioritized efficiency over quality. I prefer the latter and will be taking my child elsewhere.
I am very grateful for the professionalism and the care to my daughters. Dr Hopper and Liz Smith are helping us tremendously with easy to follow and solution oriented treatments and recommendations. Thank you!
Always have great experience! Staff is friendly and care a lot about children.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
