Absolutely love this Dr. And practice. Always does what they say they will do, call in prescriptions, follow up, give referrals if necessary. I wish he was my primary care doctor. He’s absolutely one of if not the best in the area! The nurses, the PA and the Anesthesiologist also rate 5 stars!
Friendly and informative, both Dr Barkin and Staff!
I went to Dr. Barkin based on the mostly positive reviews but I really don't know where they are coming from. Honestly, I am on the fence as to whether he is good, or not. To me he has always seemed droll and uninterested. His PA is worse, humdrum and she gets pretty indignant over the phone. The only people that are friendly and upbeat in that practice are the front desk gals (thank you!). I have been searching and searching for answers as to why I have CONSTANT discomfort/pain in my left side; horrible belching as soon as I eat something. I have gone through periods of suffering with dry heaves, diarrhea, doubling over pain and slight fever. Basically, whatever it is, is ruining my quality of life. I presented CT results which were barely glanced at. I find it interesting that for years my reports have stated I have a distended gallbladder without stones, and the last report showed a deflated gallbladder. Why isn't that checked out further/discussed?? What is going on with my gallbladder!? My colon, my gut in general!?I have seen the doctor four times and each time I walk out feeling like it was a waste of time, that I'm not important to him/them. While I'll admit it's hard to form a close doctor/patient relationship with a Gastro because most people only see them every 10 years for a colonoscopy, there are people out there with real issues that need to be addressed. I know it's hard to find a physician these days that isn't rushed and truly cares - that puts themselves and their family in the position of the patient - but I am going to search for a new doctor - one that is proactive and doesn't just lean back in a chair and nod their head.
Dr. Barkin and his staff has been outstanding since I’ve been visiting this practice three years ago, just recently I had an issue getting the medicine that I need approved from my insurance company, it caused me to be severely depressed, worried, stressed and just upset as a young adult in my 30’s. Not only did my nurse Darlene reach out to check on me Dr Barkin reached out hisself to let me know he would get to the bottom of things and he did!!!! I am truly grateful for him and his practice I recommended him to anyone -Jamaya Hall a long term patient
Positive and constructive communication, next steps are clear and concise. Generally warm and friendly environment.
Dr. Barkin is outstanding. He is very thorough & listens.
Great doctors and staff. Super nice and highly competent
I'm already like WTF. I'm sitting in the lobby about to just walk TFO. After starving for two days, I try checkin for my appointment but learn his staff forgot to schedule it. Of course, anyone would flip out when they say "you don't have an appointment". Next, the receptionist says it her fault but asks me to wait or come back. What am I supposed to do with that nonsense?! I practically had to demand and appointment. Which I'm getting 3 hours after my scheduled time, as I continue to fight hunger pain and my disgust with his staff. One hour later, I was still thinking about just walking out and paying another doctor. Keeping this appointment after read his reviews...I decided to sit at the hospital pissed off and suffering for a few more hours. This is a huge inconvenience
Received a call from Dr Barkin’s office to set up a follow up appointment, another strange encounter with this office. Failed to get her name but she said “oh” maybe we don’t need to have a f/u appointment, there was nothing wrong with you the last visit!!! The reason she said there was nothing wrong was because the doctor failed to show any interest in finding out what was “wrong”, just about pushed me out the front door!!! I had to be treated by another physician. That was a first, weird appointment. To make matters really strange the doctor had me get blood work & CT scan, had already told me before I left his office there was nothing wrong with me before I even had the tests done. Then it took his office 5 days to give me the test results! By that time I already received from the radiology!! What’s the problem here, am I missing something ?? Wouldn’t recommend this place
I've had three procedures with Dr Barkin and each experience was excellent. The office staff are all polite, appointments are on time, including the procedures, and follow-ups. Dr Barkin himself is so professional, kind and patently explains everything. Love his anesthesiologist, Dr Neuman, and the nurses too.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
