Very unprofessional. Sloppy, rude, insulting, careless. Made my problem worse then washed his hands of me.

I visited Fairfax Hospital for an Incarcerated Hernia, and was admitted to the hospital for "emergency" surgery for the recurrent hernia, that was "fixed" at Fairfax 9 years prior. DRs Dort and Hafner's staff (Inova Medical Group - General Surgery) evaluated my hernia, and determined it was NOT an emergency. I had to schedule surgery (from my hospital bed) for 2 weeks later. While on the phone, their receptionist said "That guy calling from the hospital, what should I do"... she didn't realize she was not on mute! I can only assume that "that guy" was derogatory. Fast forward 1.5 weeks. I decided I should speak with the surgeon prior to surgery, and cancelled surgery, and instead scheduled a consult. The day before my appointment, they called and cancelled my appointment -- no explanation. Fast forward 6 weeks. I had surgery with another doctor. It did not go well, and I tried to schedule an appointment again... and they said, sorry, we will have to get back to you.

Dr.s Dort/Hafner's staff visited me, and determined that my surgery was NOT an emergency. I had to schedule surgery from my hospital room (2 week out), and staff (not knowing I was not on mute) said "its that guy". 3 days prior to surgery, I cancelled surgery, in lieu of a consult. I thought it was wise to speak to the guy first. I made the appointment, only for them to cancel it the day before ... no reason given. Calls for further appointments, with any of their surgeons are REJECTED -- straight out of a Seinfeld episode. RUN AWAY. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

Dr. Hafner is an excellent doctor with an extensive experience. He knows how to relate to patients and put them at ease. So he stands out among them. The young doctors (such as Dr. Wills) who work with him are also excellent as are his office staff. They are courteous, compassionate, and very efficient in handling office procedures.

It was my first visit with Dr. Gordon Hafner at fair oaks Inova office . I feel, he is very kind, humble and knowledgeable. Spent good amount of time to explain the health situation and make you comfortable. I had my surgery last week at Fairfax Inova and I am very grateful with all his staff for the complete communication through out my surgery. Doctor and his staff members are very kind and respectful. Thank you for all your help.

Was told recovery from surgery would be a couple of days then could go back to work. Recovery period went over four weeks because of pain. After over 12 weeks now still pain necessitating further intervention.

He did an excellent job on my surgery. His prediction on how long it would take me to get better was overly optimistic, though. It's taking me about 60% longer to heal than he predicted.
