List of Bao G Vo Md's Reviews
Dr. Bao is a really nice guy, seems competent and knowledgeable, but his office administration and billing is a disaster. That's why I'm leaving. I scheduled an appointment for a physical and mentioned that I wanted to talk about some persistent knee/ankle pain from a prior injury. The office admin insisted this would be two separate appointments (even though it was all in the same time slot) and made me fill out a form to that effect. When I mentioned this to Dr. Bao, he said he had nothing to do with the billing. My insurance was billed for two separate appointments and obviously balked at the overcharge. Over a year later, after my insurance company has continually to kick the charge back to Dr. Bao's office, I finally received a bill. When I contacted the office to say I wanted it written off, I heard nothing back. I had to follow up a week later. The office now claim they cannot write it off (despite Innova telling me they can) as it's from over a year ago. But I was just billed recently. May I claim the "but it was over a year ago" defense too? As if that wasn't enough, when I called to follow up on some referrals that hadn't been done in over a month, I was scheduled for a telemed appointment. This consisted of a 10 min video chat for which my insurance was billed over $200. When I called to note that this should have just been a phone call, not a full on visit, the office said, we're sorry, but we did it as a visit so that's billed out the same. It's really too bad, because I liked Dr. Bao, but the overbilling, illogical excuses for mistakes, and slow response time to inquiries are really going to ruin his reputation.
Drs seem well educated and knowledgeable of their fields, but wait times, bedside manor and overall atmosphere will make sure I never come back. I missed a lab screening because they took so long the first time and rescheduled, this time it was my fault and they happily rescheduled. I get to the building, they send me to another room as apparently lab isn't where the other appointment was, no problem. I get over to lab and it's a screen sign in system where the desk ladies aren't very helpful or greeting you. Than when it was my turn to go up she didn't want to search my insurance (apparently required to have an up to date card, even if it's the same network you were last time) regardless if that's my fault this is where things go bad. They wanted to charge me $115 for lab screening that's free w/ my insurance almost anywhere else. After I said I'd want to think about it. The lady looked at me weird and as I came back to get validation for parking lied and said they didn't have it (I'm guessing to avoid an argument for not validating cause I didn't want to pay their absurd price after insurance).
Dr. Rao is awful. She should not be a licensed doctor. Did not address my concerns. Tested me for something completely unrelated to what I was worried about. Also rolled her eyes at me multiple times and said I due to her time constraints I would have to make another appointment. Find a real doctor not this clown.
If you're OK with incompetence, long phone "hold" times, and a network that is hit-or-miss in it's communication, then this is the place for you. I've been with Inova for 2.5 years only because I thought they were convenient, location-wise, including their Urgent Care (which I tend to need more than the average person on weekends or evenings). That part is true. However, I have found that the "network" only works when the doctors care to follow up to make sure that the patients (you) are a priority. They don't seem to follow up to make sure test results are in, or that the patient even went to get the tests.I gave two stars (instead of 1) because I've had good results with the upstairs sports medicine department, and also Urgent Care (in Vienna).Beware the general medicine operation....some of these doctors only work part-time, so it you go in (as I did) for an X-Ray (possible fractured ribs) on a Monday, it could be 7 days before the doctor can read the results to you. Inova *lost* my first results from the radiologist. So I had to call the radiology facility myself to ensure my own care. Then the finger pointing started between the radiology facility and Inova. Then I had to call Inova again to make sure they got the results. Then I had to call again, and again to get them to give me my results. They seem to act more quickly when you call them while you're on-fire livid. That get results. But who wants that headache? I don't. I'm usually a calm person, but this waiting and waiting, and lack of follow-up by the doctor for the care of her patient but me over the edge. I'll be looking for a new network, or doctor nearby. Kaiser Permanente was great, but their costs sky-rocketed after the law was changed for mandatory health insurance. Too bad, because their system is pretty solid. Inova could work, if the doctors actually cared more about their patients and followed up on their own patient's results.
No communication. Rude and inept. They make it obvious that your health and wellbeing is of no importance.
I'm sad that I even have to write this. I called this morning for a sick visit r/t blood in my urine. I'm in so much pain. The office told me to try urgent care first because it might be faster - I called 6 different urgent cares; 1 was only respiratory issues, 2 were booked all day, and THREE offices didn't even answer. When I called back, they offered me a 9am office visit, which was then canceled because I was having "chills" (even though chills is a VERY common symptom of UTI). The lady on the phone seemed to not care at all about my condition. I told her none of the urgent cares were answering. She told me to try again and if no luck they could do a video appointment, which she even admitted wasn't smart because how can you diagnose a UTI without a urine culture. Like seriously? So after I called all the urgent cares AGAIN, they said there were NO virtual appointments available. When I asked to speak with a nurse, they refused to transfer me. I am so deeply disappointed in inova primary care right now. I feel as if they don't care about my condition even though bloody urine can be something very serious. They gave me absolutely no options. When I asked if I should go to the ER, they pretty much said "I don't know, it's up to you!" Which was NOT helpful. I'm considering changing my primary care because I feel like they simply do not care about me. I'm going to be SO MAD if I end up going to the ER for simple antibiotics. Please do better, inova primary care. This is embarrassing.
He’s not my primary but I’ve seen home twice. Always has been great & his diagnoses were on point.
The worst primary care doctor I’ve EVER had. I’m a 34yo F, a provider myself, healthy individual who makes few requests and complains little. Dr Vo is extremely lazy. He will kick the can down the road for something as simple as a birth control refill or anxiety meds that I’ve been on for YEARS. Additionally, during my visit and thereafter he provided little to no insight or knowledge in regard to my medical questions. ‘Lab work is good so must be nothing.’ USELESS.
I don't even know where to start. Let's just say I've been too lazy the past 3 years to look for a new primary care doctor and that's the only reason I've stuck around as long as I have. You're just going to have to trust my one star review on this one.
I came in to look for a primary care physician. It took over a week to get prior authorization on a medication.. I called in several times and got rude responses from the staff. It has been over a week and I am still waiting, insurance company and pharmacy said they have not received any messages from the hospital. Will not be returning and would not recommend.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
