I recommend Dr. Martin and her team for gallbladder surgery. She took the time to explain everything and answer my questions during our pre-op meeting. The surgery went well. So far (almost 3 weeks later) I have had no complications and no infections; the pain subsided pretty much on schedule, about 5 days after. I was perhaps lucky in not needing to use the prescription pain and anti-nausea meds. I was happy with the entire team at Inova Fairfax Hospital. In the days immediately after surgery, Dr. Martin's team promptly answered my questions via Inova's MyChart portal. For comparison, I am a white male, 40-something, with a congenital heart problem and overweight, but otherwise healthy. I was told mine was an easy case given my health and given that I was not experiencing acute gallbladder pain in the lead up to surgery. I strictly followed the pre-op instructions. My surgery was in September 2022.

Dr. Martin is an excellent doctor. Her explanations are accurate and clear. Her staff is friendly and helpful. She is always polite and helpful.

Dr. Martin is without a doubt THE BEST. Not only with regards to surgeries, but she is a comforting force when things aren’t going “your way”. She is patient and kind and has no trouble explaining medical issues over and over again until you “get it”. I have been a patient of hers for many years and most “recently” (5 years ago) was diagnosed with breast cancer. If it weren’t for her calming persona, her knowledge of every question I threw at her, and the way she became a friend, not only to me but to my family members as well, I wouldn’t have gotten through these past 5 years. Thank you, Dr, Martin, You are a saint in my book…..

Dr. Martin has made me feel so comfortable during the scariest time in my life. She is compassionate, informative and makes you feel like a person that is important to her. As a recently diagnosed cancer patient, her bedside manner has kept me mentally healthy. She told me about test results as soon as they came in even when it was after hours. She sat with me to explain my diagnosis for over an hour. She’s down to earth, but also extremely meticulous in her approach to caring for me. I’m having a mastectomy next week and I am at peace because I know she will make sure every i is dotted and every t is crossed. I am forever grateful to Dr. Martin, and I would refer her to anyone. She’s the best.

I have seen Dr. Martin twice now but had no surgeries with her yet. Other doctors recommended surgeries to me, and each time, Dr. Martin evaluated the conditions and told me that she thought those surgeries would do more harm than good. Both times I saw her, she exhibited patience with my numerous questions and made sure to consider all factors before making a recommendation. She was clear in communicating how she arrived at recommendations and she made excellent referrals that helped me understand more about the best treatment for my initial complaint. Some surgeons rush patients into procedures, but not Dr. Martin. I thoroughly trust her recommendations, and I always sing her praises to friends and family in the Arlington, Va, area.

Dr. Martin is the best of the best.

We wait 15 min, but I was 10 min late. Ok well we can fit you in next month. It’s ok for me to wait an hour for the doctor, but show up late and your pain can wait.
