Dr. Sebastian is unique, an expert in her field, and at the same time extremely approachable, and empathetic. My breast cancer surgery was some 19 months ago. The diagnosis was scary, but I could not have had a better, nicer person to explain the diagnosis and options. Brilliant surgeon, and a truly understanding human being.

Dr. Sebastian is a FANTASTIC doctor! She is extremely knowledgeable, efficient and detail oriented. A genuinely compassionate human being! As pleased as I was with Dr. Sebastian’s work, I was extremely disappointed with the results of my Immediate DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction performed by Dr. Alex Mesbahi, who was one of the three Plastic Surgeons recommended by her. The DIEP Flap surgery was poorly done. It left me with uncomfortably abnormal bilateral bulges of tissue that extended from my armpits to the bottom of my breasts. The breasts were left asymmetrical, unsmooth and hollow in some areas; the stitches on my abdomen are sitting 3" below navel (too high) and have two small “dog ears” on each side of the suture line. In hindsight, I wish I could have selected a Plastic Surgeon of my choice rather than be restricted to one of only three choices of Plastic Surgeons recommended by her. All in all, I highly recommend Dr. Sebastian for a bilateral mastectomy!

I highly recommend Dr. Mary Louise Sebastian (AKA Molly (Mary L.) Sebastian) of “The Reinsch Pierce Family Center for Breast Health” at Virginia Hospital Center for a bilateral mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection. I could not have found a better surgeon for my bilateral mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection. The axillary lymph node dissection was necessary in order to check the number of compromised lymph nodes with cancer cells. After receiving the results, I decided to proceed with radiation. Dr Sebastian is extremely knowledgeable, efficient and detail oriented. A genuinely compassionate human being. I always felt safe under her care. Dr. Sebastian took ample time to explain all the details of my upcoming surgery, answered all my questions and guided me through the entire process. My husband and I never felt rushed in her office. I am forever grateful to Dr. Sebastian for the excellent work she did on me! My bilateral mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection surgeries performed by Dr Sebastian occurred before my DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction surgery performed by Dr Alex Mesbahi (AKA Dr Ali-Reza Nouri-Mesbahi or Dr Ali Mesbahi) of “National Center for Plastic Surgery.” All surgeries were conducted on February 12, 2019. As pleased as I was with Dr Sebastian’s work, I was extremely disappointed with the results of my DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction performed by Dr. Alex Mesbahi, who was one of the three Plastic Surgeons recommended by her. In hindsight, I wish I could have selected a Plastic Surgeon of my choice rather than be restricted to one of only three choices of Plastic Surgeons recommended by Dr Sebastian.

She patiently tried to explain all the possible alternatives and consequents making sure that we understand. She is the best thing that happened to us during this difficult time.

I have to say, I’m floored. I called to request an order for my annual mammogram screening and was told by the incredibly rude staff that I would need to see the doctor before getting an order (which I did not have to do last year). Except that, the doctor can’t see me for months. and if I want the order now I need to get one from my PCP who doesn’t have the history of my prior care with Dr. Sebastian. Makes no sense. A practice that deals in the care and prevention of breast cancer won’t write me an order for a mammogram screening. Whhhattt???!!!

I recommend Dr. Sebastian to everyone I know. Aside from being a gifted surgeon, she is the kindest, most thoughtful doctor who explains options and listens -- truly listens.

Dr. Sebastian was my surgeon when I had surgery for breast cancer. She is outstanding and her entire team is wonderful.......kind, caring and very professional.

First visit before surgery was great, spends time and explains options. Different story, after the surgery, unreachable for days . Office staff and assistants are rude, non caring and ignore patients. If you have any complications or questions , you are on your own !

Dr. Sebastian has been terrific! She has taken the time to make sure I have all the information I should have to make an informed decision, and her caring manner is exceptional. She goes above and beyond to answer any questions we have, and consults with the other doctors when necessary to get information she doesn't have at hand. I feel like I'm getting the best care on all levels - and that's what it's all about!
