Amish M Gandhi Md's Online Review Report Card

I made my rating neutral because I haven't seen Dr. Gandhi, so this is really directed at the process of getting an appointment. I reached out to Dr. Gandhi's office because he is the only doctor within driving distance that specializes in a rare disorder I have called Hypoparathyroidism. I waited on hold forever to make an appointment only for them to tell me I needed a referral. No big deal but once I went to my primary & got the doctor's referral, I never received a call to schedule an appointment, so I called & waited on hold again. They had received the referral, but told me that the referring doctor would have to do certain labs and bone density test & fax them over in order to make an appointment. I have private insurance, I have a diagnosis. It's very disappointing that you have to jump through hoops just to get an appointment when you're already dealing with chronic health issues.

I was given a referral from my doctor to see this doctor. Because I am new to his office I cannot get an appt. until 12/2022. I am a diabetic and my blood sugars are high, I dont believe I am getting the proper medicine. They say this is Inova protocol. How can a doctor let a person, known diabetic walk around for more than 6 months. I did see a different doctor at one time in the practice not impressed and I feel that a patient has the right to change doctors, but not wait 6 months. This dude is nuts....don't go to him...

staff do not return messages to try to make appts. Even with Doctor's referring order

He's a good doctor. I would recommend him to others. Front Office staff are professional. I wish he/they were not alligned w/ INOVA. I have issues with INOVA Corporate - they way they bill, sell information. They claim they dont sell your medical information but they do... Again, not the staff - they are great - it's INOVA that deserves ZERO Stars...

Office policies are ridiculous. I called to make an appointment for a second opinion. They wouldn't make the appointment without my previous doctors notes. It's a second opinion....I want a fresh unbiased look at the test results and a fresh opinion on my current symptoms. I told them I have no issues providing any labs or imaging results and they still wouldn't make the appointment unless the previous office sends their notes. How about you look at the results and make your own interpretation on a diagnosis.

I've been seeing Dr. Gandhi since he took over Dr. McMurry's practice, and could not have had a better person to pick up my care. He has been extremely thorough in making sure the diagnoses of other doctors were correct and making adjustments around my various health problems. His care for my T1 Diabetes has been amazing, better than any other endo I've seen. He has also been extremely respectful of the fact that I am trans, which is still (even in this area) a subject many doctors could use sensitivity training on. He was willing to try out SC T injections rather than IM, in spite of it still being relatively uncommon at the time, taking my greater experience with the trans community and healthcare into account when I wanted to try it. He impressed me with his willingness to admit when he was unsure of a question related to trans care I asked rather than beating around the bush or equivocating. Then, at my following appointment, he had in fact done research and we were able to discuss options. I have never had a doctor so willing to go the extra mile in every aspect of care, he sets a standard other doctors should strive to emulate. The other staff are also wonderful, from the nurse who made me extra copies of my medical history when I mentioned in passing that my printer was broken, to the receptionist who not only greets me by name anytime I come to an appointment or call in, but who took a personal interest when I was having trouble with my insulin script. Everyone is so nice here --this office feels very friendly, and I genuinely look forward to my appointments. There is sometimes a bit of a struggle with phone tag trying to speak to a nurse, however it has significantly improved over the last year or two. The last few times I have needed to call in have been no more of a hassle than any other doctors' office.

The entire office is top notch. From check in to check out I am always made to feel cared for. The nurses are kind, compassionate, and caring. Dr. Ghandi is the kindest doctor I have ever had. He takes time, explains everything, and even talks to me about other aspects of my life that may be effecting my diabetes. There is never a doubt that he cares about me and my well-being. Highly recommend Dr. Ghandi.

Even though the insurance does not require a referral, this office does. Even if you can provide records, they want something from a referring physician--which is ridiculous- so you can see a NURSE! Why would someone book time with a DOCTOR, so you can see the NURSE?? No thank you.

Dr Gandhi was very responsive to my questions.. He invested his time in trying to understand my history and symptoms and address my concerns. Somebody mentioned "no eye contact". I am sorry that the person had bad experience but I don't think it's anything personal -- some people can't make eye contact. Also, sometimes that is because of medical conditions; we should respect these differences in personalities. The only issue is trying to contact the office for blood works or appointments etc. The phone always ends up in voicemail. Hence I am giving 4 stars; otherwise 5 stars for me.

Compared to the current endocrine doctor I've seen only 2x's, Dr. Gandhi is fantastic. He's competent, he can do an ultrasound on your thyroid impromptu & has phlebotomists in house who can draw your blood. He'll get results in a few days. Very competent doctor w/ a gr8 bedside manner. Your search for a good endocrinologist doctor stops here!
