List of Ahmed M. Hegab's Reviews
We were referred to Dr. Hegab by the primary care physician. Without going into personal details I can honestly tell you that this was the worst experience I’ve ever had speaking with scheduling staff. It appears to be a routine, upon speaking with my primary care physician, for this person to hang up on people and treat them with complete and utter disregard. I am hard of hearing, and I tried to explain, but she got to the point of literally shouting over my voice and I couldn’t get any words in. Rude to the point of cruel while I was trying to help a loved one that may be dying. Upon explaining that I received nothing but nastiness and complete lack of care and concern which left me in tears. I truly hope that this cruel person gets the help they need for how they treat others and not treating this like a power trip I pray that this never happens to them in their time of need. It is not worth being talked to, and treated like a dog. My primary care physician is blocking the entire Gastrohealth organization for referrals. Go anywhere else.
I’ve had two colonoscopies and an endoscopy performed by Dr. Hegab. He’s intelligent and thorough and able to explain complex conditions in simple, easy to understand language without patronizing the patient. He is also up to date on the latest information concerning diseases, disorders, treatment options, pharmaceuticals, and surgical procedures.
Yesterday I completed paperwork providing GastroHealth with my contact information. Specifically, I stated that the office may contact me via my home phone number or email. I put in writing that I do NOT want to be contacted by my cell phone. Yet today, I am receiving a survey at that very number. I am VERY happy with Dr. Hegab, his treatment and the caring concern he has for his patients. I would give him 5 stars, but since the entire experience must be taken into account, I have to lower the overall score. I have often experienced a lack of concern or respect from the office staff. This continued use of my cell phone is one such example. Patients are asked to complete forms, usually annually, providing the means by which they prefer to be contacted, authorizing with whom their medical information may be shared and acknowledging they have been informed of their HIPAA rights. Since it takes time for patients to go through all these forms each year to sign them or update the information, if necessary (especially if they have multiple physicians), it would be useful if the forms were then reviewed by office staff to make necessary changes to patient medical records before they are simply filed and ticked off as completed for another year. Yesterday was not the first time that I asked GastroHealth, by conversation or a documented request, that my cell phone number not be used as a means of contact. Yet here we still are. One last note, it takes an extremely long time to get an appointment. I started calling in June for an appointment and nothing was available through the end of July, except for the one week I would be out of town for family memorial service. I asked about August, but was told that schedule had not been released yet. By the time I returned from travel, the next segment of schedule had opened and, of course, filled. Therefore, it took me from June to get an appointment on September 30. Thank goodness, I wasn't falling apart.
Dr Higab is very competent and professional. Lessen carefully to the patient and answer questions. I strongly recommend him for all patients in his specialty.
Very pleased with my first experience with Dr. Hegab, who performed an endoscopy. He was patient with my questions both before and after the procedure. His deep knowledge base was also obvious as we discussed my diagnosis and next steps. I definitely recommend him.L
Would highly recommend, has a great staff.
The best gastroenterologist ever! His kindness and compassion is beyond words. He also is not going to let something go. If he thinks something is wrong but doesn't know what it is right away he will figure it out, no matter what.
I would highly recommend Dr. Hegab. He is the BEST!!!! There are really no words to even describe how caring, compassionate, and understanding he is when you are going through a procedure such as Esophagogastroduodenoscopy. I was a little worried at first; just thought of being put to sleep scares me but he was there every step of the way. Great job. I will never, ever go to anymore hospitals in Washington DC. Inova is great and so are the Doctors. Happy New Year's Dr. Hegab!
Dr. Hegab is the best. Very patience, listen problems and asked many times if I have any questions.
He was very professional. On top of that, I found him to be very personable. I trust his skills and abilities.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
