This doctor without seeing my daughter has offered our insurance company a position to deny her Enbrel for her Juvenile Arthritis. Not Recommended.

I first met Dr. Patel when my son was in UVA hospital. Two words: Simply Amazing. He listened to my concerns, answer all of my questions and called back in a timely manner.

I have had the worst care experience with Dr. Patel. Do not go to him. He does not listen, he does not follow up and the team in his office is just as bad. I do NOT recommend this doctor. I can't even give him one star, but HealthGrades requires at least one to submit a review. In reality, I rate him and his practice a zero.

Practice was shut down due to COVID exposure and no one communicated to us to reschedule appointment despite knowing we were traveling from Blacksburg and booking hotel overnight. Doctor was the only person in building after receiving his negative COVID result. Greeted us and examined all by himself and was very courteous about incident. Wore double mask and sanitized throughout examining. As always he was aggressive with disease but doesn’t want to overmedicate either. Friendly and playful. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Horrible experience. Waited SEVEN MONTHS for an appointment for my son, to only be tested for Lyme Disease which I told him would be negative because he had already been tested twice in the appropriate amount of time. He must know better than me and ordered it anyways. Guess what??? It was negative. Insurance wouldn’t even cover it due to being unnecessary. We were entirely dismissed. When called with the negative result, I was given no options as to what next, meanwhile my 6 year old is dealing with weekly joint pain. I brought a “joint pain journal.” He told me to keep one, I informed him I had one with me. He told me he didn’t need to see it, just to keep doing it and if my son had a flare up like the one that caused him to go to the ER to then contact him. I explained I was there to avoid that. I left in tears. And no answers. EXTREMELY disappointed.

Tried getting an appointment said would call back in twenty four hours well twenty seven hours later I received a call back and missed it called as soon as I got it it was 4;45 so close to closing maybe they didn't say they were closed left a message to be called back in the order it was received no call . so called Monday nine am the guy said someone would call me back in 24 hours yeah right it's been 29 hours now . God help you if you were in pain . I would have been a new patient !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Patel is excellent and spearheaded the proper treatment for our daughter recently diagnosed with a rare auto-immune diseases which baffled a team of PICU doctors. He walked in to the PICU room and diagnosed her immediately and correctly. He is an expert in his field and works tirelessly to transition his patients off prednisone, moving to steroid sparing agents to reduce side effects. He responds quickly and with expertise to calm your nerves as a parent and help with your child's given need. He is funny, warm and engaging. I very much appreciate his positive attitude. We are eternally grateful for the care he has provided for our daughter.

Our daughter has been a patient of Dr. Patel since May 2016. Dr. Patel has been nothing of kind, genuine, and understanding in regards to her condition and to her care. He listens to her and asks her questions about her pain and symptoms. After seeing multiple doctors in northern Virginia, we decided to take her to UVA. Her symptoms have improved and have shown signs of remission.

I have only being seeing Dr. Patel for 2 months. Within the 2 months span of time, he has really help gain control over my diagnosis. When I email him, he response in a timely manner. He is personable and is very knowledgeable about his field of medicine.

Never. Forgets he's dealing with PEOPLE (children) who have chronic illness and live daily in pain.
