Did cataract surgery. Did the wrong procedure… have been to 3 other doctors, all said botched surgery. Thank god he’s retired.
Being new to VA we needed an Eye Doctor. The technician took my history but the doctor never asked anything about my family history of macular degeneration or the brain tumor that affected my optic nerve. He made small talk when he entered the room. Looked at my eyes with a bright light. Never used a headlamp or prisms or had me stare at a grid to check for macular. Exam was probably three minutes if that. At 72 years old this doctor is not for me!

Condescending and misdiagnosed lifelong problem.
This Doctor has office managers and office staff that refuse to take the Healthkeepers open access insurance. He hired them so he is responsible for making me feel like a fool to even have called him for an appointment. If he doesn't take my insurance, he should make sure that he is removed from the insurance listing. His people wouldn't even check with the insurance. I had two separate Blue Cross insurance staff try to talk to his staff. Both reported being unsuccessful at communicating with them. In fact, he is still listed as part of my Blue Cross program. This is the situation. I saw him when I first was having trouble with Bells Palsy, and he told me I needed to follow up when my cataract grew worst. Over the next few years, I had follow-up appointments to check my eye issues each year. Now, I can't see him because of his office staff. He blew me off as a patient. Although he has the right not to take my insurance, he should at least live up to his obligation to the insurance or change it. I feel terrible that he would dump me after all of these years.
This Doctor has office managers and office staff that refuse to take my insurance, that he used to take readily. If he doesn't take my insurance, he should make sure that he is removed from his agreement with my insurance. His people wouldn't even check with my insurance. I had two separate Blue Cross insurance staff try to talk to his staff and both of them experienced the same problem I had. They were completely blocked. This is my history with him: I saw him when I first was having trouble with Bells Palsy. He helped me get through that, and he told me I needed to follow up when my cataract grew worse. Over the next few years, I had follow-up appointments to check my eye issues. Now, I almost can't see in one of my eyes, and I can't get an appointment. I feel betrayed.
After a long wait assistant gave a quick, cursory and clumsy "checkup". Dr. Egge looked into my eyes with a PAINFULLY bright light, wouldn't answer any questions, just wheeled his chair back and said "you're fine" and left the room. Will NEVER go back there!
WORST patient care and customer service I have ever seen. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My family has been long-standing patients of this practice for many years (at least 10-15). My 93 year old grandfather was a few minutes late for his appointment and was turned away from being seen at all. The staff refused to try to fit him in somewhere else in the day and stated that this was "Office Policy." I'm a medical assistant in a physicians office, and I understand how a late patient can throw off the schedule. But I also understand the needs of each patient, especially the elderly. Many elderly patients have transportation issues, or just tend to move a little slower than the rest of us. For this office to turn away someone in need of medical care and not even attempt to fit him in later in the day simply for being a few minutes late is just poor patient care and poor practice. I would hate for anyone I know to be treated with the disregard and disrespect that my elderly grandfather had to endure. If they treat their established patients this way, who knows how they treat new ones. You just lost an entire family of patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
