I am elderly and have Barrett’s esophagus. From the outset, Dr. Balaban recommended that I have an endoscopy every 3 years. I was supposed to undergo the procedure this past August, marking 3 years. However, I was not given an appointment to prepare for the procedure until October. I went to the appointment expecting to see Dr. Balaban but met instead with a nurse practitioner. We discussed my condition before she referred me to the scheduler to complete the paperwork and arrange a spring appointment for my endoscopy. The scheduler said that a date in March would be the earliest that she could offer. This is regrettable considering the potential risk of having a more serious medical condition. Evidently this office has too many patients, but its doctors are still accepting new patients. Dr. Balaban has expertise, but I do not have ready access to the procedure that he recommends.

I’m impressed! The first time I saw him he was already versed on my various issues — looking at other drs info from the practice and my many years at another facility. I knew I was in good hands. He was personable and took the time to answer my questions and was very thorough. He also gave me suggestions on ways I can improve my health and condition that do not involve medicines.

The entire office staff was super. From the quick sign in with the receptionist, to the on-time procedure, with Brittany being an excellent prep person to Will with his anesthesia to the nurse assistant (sorry I forgot her name), all were very professional and put me at easy throughout the treatment and recovery. While getting a coloscopy isn't the highlight of my week, they made the entire procedure as comfortable as possible.
