Very clean and caring staff. Nice cafeteria

My brother is currently a patient at this wonderful hospital. My brother entered this hospital in critical condition and has transitioned from ICU to acute care. The facilities are clean. The staff on West 3 are great. I have to say the my brothers Nurse Augey is extraordinary. Augey's bedside manner is top notch. He is very warm and caring and true healthcare provider (emphasis on "care"). Augey took time to explain ALL of the many questions we had with detail and simplicity. My daughter, my brother's fiancee and I left feeling relieved, confident and with greater comprehension of the upcoming procedures that our loved one Carnell will be going through and we are assured he is well taken care of. My daughter and I drove in from New York so we really feel a great sense of peace with Carnell's care since we are so far away. Thank you to the team: MET team that responded promptly when Carnell was experiencing some distress. Thank you Dr. Mahmoud and Dr Diggins for showing up on our last visit. It is always reassuring when there is a face put the name on info board in the room. Nurse Vanessa. Real Angels providing great healthcare and doing sacred work. I'm truly amazed at the high quality service our family received. You never want to be someone in need of care but this is a well oiled machine. Staff is super friendly and accommodating which is only secondary to the outstanding medical care we received. 10/10 across the board.

I wish there was an option for zero stars. Short version: this hospital is a scam. Made an appointment with a doctor for a routine check, this doctor was 30 minutes outside of town. Day of the appointment, that doctor's office told me the doctor wasn't seeing anyone that day and directed me to an office at UVA Health. So after a 30 minute drive and 15 minutes to find parking and 15 minutes to find my way through the hospital to this new office, I was directed to give my information to the office on another floor so I could be seen. After that fiasco, I waited for the doctor for nearly 30 minutes. Then the doctor saw me for 4 minutes. My condition is pretty routine. I'm new to the area and all I needed was an Rx. After checking out, I went to the lab downstairs for my routine bloodwork. That was surprisingly smooth and only took about 10 minutes. The phlebotomist was great. A month later and I get a bill. Previously, in the big city I lived in, this whole process would cost about $375 without insurance. The hospital billed me for $2,925. Naturally I called to find out what mistakes they had made. They conducted an "investigation" which took less than 4 business hours, and told me (of course) they didn't make any mistakes. I was directed to call the doctor to clarify what I was being billed for. After two weeks of not getting any answers from the doctor, and calling every other day, the hospital is telling me they cannot do anything about the bill and I must pay. I am going to retain legal council, because I'd rather give my money to a lawyer than these scam artists. It's telling when a hospitals three options on their phone line are 1) Rx, 2) payment, 3) if you are a lawyer. If you have the option, go anywhere else. I'd literally rather die than deal with these scam artists ever again.

I have been in the UVa hospital four times in the last 12 months--major reasons, including MS, heart, and cancer--and I have never felt more LOVED. An odd word, I know, but everyone--from the doctors to the custodial staff--was so kind and so compassionate. I could not have asked for better.

The best hospital period!...everything was just about perfect...extremely secure and safe...ER was well protected and safe... All the nurses are caring and nurturing...almost everyone tried their best and their work performance showed!...very dedicated and hard working nurses and doctors listen intently and strive for excellence!

Today 11/20/22 I bring whole my family to the uva hospital emergency room and unbelievable from check in to routing nurse check up was so quick and professional excellent service! and A big big thanks for DR Ana Romero Vazquez she was really nice and respectful!
