Dr. Aberra performed my upper endoscopy in May 2022. Clinically, everything seemed to go well. I have added an additional star to this rating because of her clinical skill. In terms of patient focus, much was lacking: (1) I was examined and interviewed by a nurse practitioner, and never met Dr. Aberra until I was prepped for the procedure. (2) I have no recollection of seeing Dr. Aberra after the procedure, possibly due to not being fully conscious; a nurse provided me with physician notes and photos from the procedure. ( 3) The prescription medication she said I should take was denied by my insurance; she substituted a different one without discussing whether it would be as effective as the original. (4) My 6-week post-procedure visit would be with a nurse practitioner, not Dr. Aberra. My impression is a high-volume practice, leaving little time for one-on-one contact with the physician. I felt unimportant, overlooked, and - worse yet - uninformed.
