After having my father diagnosed with multiple different lung issues, everything from lung cancer to “we don’t know” we made the decision to go to UVA and get an answer. Looking back it was the best decision we could have made. Dr. Noth was able to determine that Dad had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, IPF. While it was not the news we wanted to hear, it was the news we needed to hear. Dr. Noth spent time with us and explained that there is no cure, there were some treatment options and things we could do to try and slow the progression of the disease. With Dr. Noth and his amazing nurse Cathy’s help Dad began taking Esbriet which alleviated some of his symptoms for over a year. (I also understand that Dad’s results from taking the medication were unusual) At every turn and every step Dr. Noth has been honest and compassionate. I strongly recommend him as a human being and a doctor.
