Expect to wait hrs and hrs. They are going to do unnecessary exams. Go to another place.
She made my young son extremely comfortable and cooperative. It was a great experience.
First, let me say that this is not a reflection of UVA medicine as a whole. I have had phenomenal experiences at other departments. However the Eye Clinic let me down. And they let me down big time. I had been struggling with double vision for years and after time and money put into failing vision therapy, I finally sought a second opinion. I felt unsettled with my “diagnosis” and unheard about my struggling. I left feeling completely defeated and hopeless. I sought a third opinion at a well known teaching hospital in Maryland. There, I received life changing surgery that has since corrected my double vision (and it’s other symptoms) and dramatically improved my quality of life. Moral of the story, trust yourself and what your body is telling you and get that third opinion.
Why complain about how long your Medical Appts last or your loved ones ? Be Greatful there's help out there for Our Disabled family members. It's A Clinic. Not a Regular Drs Office. We sit when we go to our regular Dr appts here in Danville Va. It counts on how busy they are. Paitence people paitences ! My daughter loves her Eye Dr. Dr Newman and her surgeon , Dr.Asthigirri. He is Awesome ! Remember be paitence.
Rude reception, ridiculously long wait times over an hour. Second time here, and both times have been disappointing. I'm surprised this is part of UVA being such a disappointment. I'd recommend going somewhere else.
The stuff any time you call are curt, rude, and not helpful at all.
Amazing staff. Yes the wait times are a little longer but they have a lot of patients. It’s worth the wait to see the doctors here. They did strabismus surgery on our two year old we drive six hours each way to come here because they are that great. My sons eyes look amazing and they were above and beyond great with him him. It’s worth the wait and the drive we will continue coming here. I would recommend uva to any parent with a child that has a serious problem going on.
The wait here is horrible and they don't seem to care to much when you voice your issues with this, best to book an early apt otherwise the waiting room is small your practically setting on top of each other and you will be here for hours they need to quit overbooking themselves this is unacceptable. Also to add some patients could no longer wait and nurses were talking about patients who had to leave not professional.
Just completed an emergency eye exam appointment and by far the Doctors were top-notch, thorough, calming, informative and easily the best I have ever encountered in my 65 years! I highly recommend. The staff was kind and they listened and thus proactive. I am very grateful.
I have been going to this ophthalmology clinic for years. The doctors have always been fabulous, but the supporting staff was not (curt, robotic, seemed to hate their jobs)— until my latest visit this week. The doctors were still fabulous, but the supporting staff was fabulous as well. Heather in particular treated everyone with great kindness and respect. The attitude of all the supporting staff was much better than usual. Thank you Heather for making what is typically a dreaded appointment, a pleasant experience.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
