I’ve been seeing Dr. Mary Lee Vance for 22 years now. She saved my life the day I walked into her office. She goes above and beyond and fights for her patients well being. Cushing's Disease is no joke and she takes it very seriously. If she seems a little abrupt or abrasive at times, it’s because she cares so much for her patients and only wants what’s best for them. I consider myself extremely lucky and truly Blessed to be her patient. I seriously couldn’t have gotten through the last 22 years without her. I will die the day she retires, but at the same time, I will be so happy for her because it is more than well deserved. Thank you DR. MARY LEE VANCE!! Good Bless You!!☺️😘🙏🏻

Don’t believe the negative reviews on here. I have been a patient of Dr Vance since 2017. I have the most respect for her. She called me late in the evening when I was hesitant to do the gamma knife radiation that I needed to save my life and she was concerned for me. She has always been very thorough and very caring to my needs. I am so thankful that God put her and the whole team at UVA endocrinologist/neurologist in my life. They are the best there is in this field. Highly recommend. She has a very caring heart.

My daughter who is 29 and I met with Dr. Vance this week and found her absolutely wonderful. She is incisive, direct, brilliantly knowledgeable, and caring. While a no-nonsense professional, she is also wickedly funny which put us both at tremendous ease. I could not recommend Dr. Vance more highly and feel so fortunate that she will be my daughter’s physician.

Dr. Vance is not one for mincing words. She may be or appear to be condescending and rude, she definitely commented on how obese I was at the time. Sure, it stung. Reflecting back, she could be seen as super rude. The trade off? She helped save my life when no other doctor knew what to do with me(Cushing's disease)...she has helped me and was a dear doctor and friend to my great aunt who passed.

I am extremely grateful for her care. I found out I had a macro prolactinoma in 2003. After visiting an endocrinologist in Virginia Beach, I was told several incorrect things, terminating in the need for surgery. Researching this aspect, it was made clear that the most important factor for success was experience in these types of tumors. I found that Dr. Vance was one of the most respected in this field and made an appointment with her. That was 15 years ago. She correctly prescribed treatment with medication and my tumor has become inactive and prolactin levels have returned to normal from record highs. I meet with her annually for bloodwork, monitoring and MRI. She has always been knowledgeable, straightforward and informative. I have never felt rushed and she takes time to answer all of my questions in detail. I would recommend her to anyone. Regarding her manner, it appears some are put off by her candor, but I feel she is a caring and professional individual and a credit to her field.

She is my absolute favorite Doctor! It’s sad to see some of the reviews here. She is very thorough with me during my visits, she takes the time to explain some of the reactions I may get from my brain tumor and after having a blood draw she puts me on medication that helps with the side effects. She has even went to the extent of calling on the weekend to check up with me to make sure everything is working well. She is very knowledgeable.

Sad and very broken woman Period! My referring physicians cringed at having to return to Mary Lee Vance. My husband I traveled to be met with a condescending, arrogant, ranting and swearing woman. To treat any other individual in the manner in which we were treated, simply negligent. Four grueling appointments, she noted concerning details but chose to engage in an Ego competition, I graciously declined. I called her to the rug at our 2nd visit and when we finally had the opening to dicuss actual medical at hand, I was sent to the lab down the hall. I received hugs and clapping from HER staff, thanking me for taking her to task on her harmful interactions with weary patients. Shame on UVA for continuing to choose $income and not " Think first, Do No Harm!" We are now abut 14 yrs later and I'm being referred to other Pituitary Specialist to evaluate the rare episodic tumor that has just about ended my life. Run, she isn't worth it!
