List of Sentara Family Medicine At 5Th Street Station's Reviews
The front end staff is lazy and incompetent. My wife recieved a negative covid-19 from one of the doctors their but was refused a doctors note confirming the results so she could go back to work. We were told we had to come in and get another test done after the results had been told to her over the phone. The excuse they used was because the original doctor for her first test wasn't their. After coming in a second time a different doctor we saw was infuriated by the front end staff and ended up just printing out the original test results for my wife. A week after her negative test results she can finally return to work. Sentara should fire all the front end staff or find out who should be fired to eliminate the incompetence. I may seem callous but if they are willing to jeopardize someone else's job for no reason but laziness then why should they keep theirs?
Just returned from appointment at 5th street and wanted to brag about the wonderful experience. Staff were very friendly, thorough, informative, and patient. I was seen quickly with no wait time. Doctor explained situation and my options and listened to me. Highly recommend this clinic!
I’ve got an appointment right away, which I really appreciated. They took me on time, and before I knew it, I had a perscription and ready to go. Thank you!
To waste no time at all, I called ahead of time. The receptionist, Wendy Ingall was very nice on the phone. We scheduled same day appointment. When I arrived 20 minutes early to my appointment, I was greeted by Wendy through her window. We spoke about who I was, exchanged info, and she remembered the conversation we had on the phone. I was then greeted 5 minutes prior to my appointment by the nurse who gathered what brought me into the office. When she met me in the waiting room she was very chipper. And she already knew what brought me looking at my leg. She made small talk as we walked to the room down the hall. She examined my symptoms as we walked together. As we entered the room she asked for my consent to take my blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature. She even asked if I wanted to guestimate my weight. And I was feeling brave and stepped in the scale. We continued to go over symptoms and information. I waited about 10 minutes when the nurse practitioner, Jessica Kanty, came in and greeted me before we went over more information. I disclosured some information when she suggested getting a culture. When we discussed how I am self pay, she then said 'let's not do that bc I don't know what the cost is. And if it's overall not going to help today, I think you should wait for another possible infection to get cultured on another occasion' I agreed and said okay. She said she'd still treat me with antibiotics, and also suggested keeping and continuing a photo log. The staff were overall friendly, compassionate, and caring people. They really heard my concerns and wanted to do the best for me, and I felt that. I recommend this location
1. A person always answers the phone. Ms. Linda is so sweet and kind. She is timely and professional with helping you with your requests! I don't think I've ever been on hold when I call. 2. Kathryn Gallo, PA is a wonderful physician assistant to see! She's a great listener, you can tell she really cares about her patients. She even helped continue to provide prescription refills after we moved until I could get established with a new care provider. It was so thoughtful and kind. She's so understanding. I highly recommend seeing her. 3. This whole office is a great place to get care. I never had a wait longer than 5 minutes, maybe 10 minutes in the room, but Kathryn will take her time with you which means she's taking her time with her other patients too. Everyone is so polite and nice and helpful.
My wife and I have been here multiple times over the last few years. However her and I have both tried to make appointments over the last week or so and the people over the phone have been extremely rude. We both had the same experience on 2 separate days. Unprofessional.
My experience with this office could not have been better! The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The NP who saw me, Kara Potts I believe was her name, was thorough and caring. She ended up sending me to a specialist, who diagnosed me with the same diagnosis as she had, which was a rare type of infection. The Sentara office made the appointment with the specialist for me that very day. I was very pleased and impressed with this staff!
Decent enough staff and office. They're not perfect, and you can tell a little run down from the pandemic. One NP at the office refused to have an appointment with me, told me to see a gynecologist when I had respiratory issues, and a stomach problem. I decided that particular NP was crazy.
Great people working here providing great healthcare!
They are lost…. My daughter was told she could walk in for a appointment but when you get there that’s not the case at all . Made a appointment for 440 and was seen at 6 . No one came to tell me why they were running behind . I had to go inquire myself. My daughter then has her blood drawn there only for them to call the next day and say there was a error and that’s all the info I got because it’s a violation but they don’t mind sending me her bill or letting me in the room with her for her appointment. They then call and say she has a ultra sound appointment scheduled at UVA . I call UVA they have nothing . I call the clinic back and after being pushed around to 3 different people who asked the same questions I find out it’s not at UVA it’s at Sentara which makes sense. The lady then says we would never tell you UVA, but you did or someone did . The doctor we saw was great so was the nurse who took us back . The rest of the office staff needs to get it together!!! I see why there are so many bad reviews!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
