Coastal Counseling Center's Online Review Report Card

I've been a patient of Samuel Harris for a few years now, and it's a shame I haven't posted a review yet. The office is professional, welcoming and clean. The office staff are friendly and see to your needs in a timely fashion. The utilization of being able to text and use a patient portal has vastly improved response times. Sam is the best there is, hands down. He has done so much to help me, and I will forever be grateful to him. He's been a life changer. My daughter also sees Cynthia, who is fabulous as well. If you want to invest in your mental health, this is the place to go.

Quite professional, and the counseling here was excellent, and far cheaper than other places. I went from paying $300 week elsewhere, to $80 every two weeks with far more success.

The interaction and service from Dorothy Goulart has been amazing and the only reason for the 2 stars. We had hoped to continue working with her remotely; however, the recent interactions with the office and their new billing policies are making me seriously rethink what is best for me and my daughter. Charging my card without proper verification of my coverage, no statement, and after a discussion with staff the same day the charge was made is inconsiderate, unacceptable and borders on illegal. I understand more than most that payment is due when services are rendered, but that does not apply when the insurance dictates otherwise...and this is one of those situations. Attitude from the front office person was not at all what I have become accustomed to in the years my daughter has been a patient.  She dismissed my concerns, refused to listen to all that had transpired in the calls I had made before getting her on the phone, and her overall attitude was hostile. Further, she promised me a call back from the in office billing person the next day and I heard nothing back from them, which makes one wonder if the message was even delivered. If this is the way that I am going to be treated going forward I will find another way for my daughter to get treatment or find a new provider, very disappointing and frustrating to say the least.

Coastal counseling is by far one of the best places to receiver the care you need. The office staff has always been so helpful, and professional.

I just called Coastal Counseling for the first time to establish at a new place for my daughter and I cannot wait to meet their staff. The receptionist Rebecca was absolutely amazing, caring and professional! If their doctors are as great as her I know my daughter will be in great hands!

If i could leave 0 stars i would! I have been searching for counseling for my daughter and this place said they had openings as early as the end of the month. They require you to fill out an extensive intake questionnaire online as well as submitting all insurance and ID cards. Once they have all your info, they will call to get you scheduled. I did so it the matter of days to ensure i could get scheduled by the end of the month as they said the therapist had availability. I waited TWO WEEKS, no one called, so i finally sent a message and said no one called was there something else they needed?? She tells me sorry, the therapist is no longer accepting patients at this time!!! I’m livid! I waited WEEKS from the time i started their extensive process until now only for it to be a waste of my time!! Terrible terrible terrible customer service... and they told me “maybe we called the wrong #, but I’m sure we called” well. I never received a message and my # is long distance and that is possible, but why is that my fault when I did everything i was directed too!😡😡😡UPDATE: after noting my frustrating review, the owner reached out to me to make a resolution. He was extremely professional and apologetic for his staff.. and they were able to fit me in. I have not yet met with the counselor, but look forward to hopefully getting support for my daughter. I have raised the review rating, and will be able to see better once we have become patience to see if it’s all worth it!

Called to confirm they were accepting new patients. They required a credit card to even go any further. After charging me .01, they called and told me they didn't have anyone who could help with medication who would accept new patients, but I accepted an appointment with a female counselor anyway. Nothing available any sooner than like six weeks out. They later called and cancelled my appointment and told me suddenly only one of their providers was accepting new patients, a male (which I did not want) who also did not have any availability for an even longer time. Enough of a poor experience just to cancel all together, too unreliable to trust them with my health. Wish I hadn't wasted weeks with no care to have to start my search all over again.

Been seeing Cynthia for a month now and she’s awesome the vibe when you walk in Is clean and relaxing definitely recommend..

I have had such a great experience with Coastal Counseling. Everyone there is extremely friendly and helpful. The front desk responds quickly and genuinely cares about your needs. Dr. A is a great doctor to have she really wants to help. I just started therapy with Ms. Shelton and look forward to working with her.

I am new to the area and was recommended this place. When I called to set up the appointment I had to wait 2 months for an opening, which I was fine with because I knew it would be worth it. The morning of my appointment, they called and told me that they had to cancel my appointment and that they could reschedule me but it wouldn’t be for another 7 more weeks. I would have gotten a bill if I canceled less than 24 hrs of my appointment time/day. Didn’t offer another therapist or anything else, Just 7 more weeks of waiting. I told them to forget it and I would find another place. Not a very god experience at all and I didn’t even get the chance to have my appointment. Highly don’t recommend.
