Absolutely horrible experience! Would never recommend this doc EVER!!

Dr. Yagel was wonderful. He and his Team made me very comfortable when entering the OR, were very professional and personable, explained everything they were about to do, then quickly got to the task. The colonoscopy was easy and Dr. Yagel spent an appropriate amount of time with my wife and me in recovery explaining the results (good) and answering our questions. First of all he’s a part-time practitioner so if your looking for a doctor who is unavailable to you 85% of the time he’s your guy. His bedside manner is terrible and he constantly made me feel like he didn’t care about me or the pain i was in. Honestly, it’s like he didn’t even have the decency to review my file before he walked in the room, asking me questions about what medications I’m taking as HE wasn’t the one who prescribed them to me. Not to mention I was suffering in pain because he told me to continue a medication and then wouldn’t refill it. He asks you questions and then constantly talks over you when you try to answer. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone, so please don’t waste your time. Dr. Alex Williams from the same practice did my procedures and was amazing, he also constantly stepped in to help me when Yagel was conveniently unavailable. So try him!

Appointment was for a routine colonoscopy. Overall an exceptional visit. Dr. Yagel was professional, interactive, and explained every step of the procedure along with communicating the results. He and the staff met every expectation. I would highly recommend Dr. Yagel.

Ironically, this was the doctor who treated me while active duty. I found him to be competent and extremely knowledgeable. When I found out that he was in practice in Virginia Beach, I was ecstatic, and as a civilian, I wanted him as my Gastroenterologist. Unfortunately, he wouldn't accept me as a patient, even after I wrote his office practically begging, citing our history and his knowledge of me and my Ulcerative Colitis. I refuse to rate him lower than a five!

Dr Yagel has been my gastro doctor for about 5 years. He has been very responsive to my problems with Crohn's Disease . He is efficient and yet will readily answer my questions . I have not had problems scheduling quick appointments when problems come up.

Rude and rushy. Wrote an objective letter stating inconsistent and false information without gathering all the facts. Would not recommend to anyone. Stay away.

. I am most disappointed in the wait time. I waited over 50 minutes to be seen by the doctor. 50 minutes just to have him walk into my room!! I never received any feedback as to the wait and when I addressed the issue to the doctor he merely stated I'm sorry. If the wait time was going to be long, I would appreciate if the doctor/ receptionist asked me if I cared to reschedule, who said I didn't have something else to do? My time is just as valuable as any person, so when I schedule an appointment I expect to be seen at least within 15 minutes. After all, the receptionist is the one looking at the calendar to ensure I am placed in to a time that is compatible with the doctor's schedule. If I arrive late or do not call, I am billed anywhere from $50.00 to $200.00 depending on the incident. If the doctor arrives late, I get nothing except sorry and all my other appointments being thrown off at that time. Why is it OK for the doctor to be late but not the patient? If you have too many people scheduled or you can't wrap up an appointment in a timely manner, maybe you should try placing greater distance between the next patient, to allot for the overtime (which by the way I'm not getting paid for) in which the patient will be occurring. So many times people say this is the norm, this is not acceptable! If you arrive late at the doctor's office you are billed or asked to rescheduled, if you arrive late for an interview you will not get the job, if you arrive late at your job you will be fired. Why is it OK for a doctor in a doctor's office to be late for his/her patients? I had an appointment; I even brought in my paperwork already filled out. I didn't just walk in. I rescheduled an appointment for another doctor while waiting for the doctor to come in, upon him coming In, I left. He or she will no longer be privy to my money when I have to wait excessively.

Dr Yagel is very capable - lots of experience and knowledge - and he is also very kind. Just exactly the type of Doctor you want when you are dealing with GI issues, whether a routine colonoscopy or a difficult health problem. He seems especially good at diagnosing problems.
