Dr. Stoddard saved my life. When you have a life-threatening condition that requires a serious operation, saving your life is the #1, #2, and #3 reason to choose a surgeon. I met her for the first time when I needed emergency surgery. She was very stoic and fact-based in her conversation with me. During my post-op visit and follow-up appointments, we had a more relaxed interaction. She is a GIFTED SURGEON. I am heartbroken she left the Culpeper area.
Dr. Stoddard is detail oriented and takes the time to explain what is going on. I was unsure when seeing a couple of one star reviews, but I'd suggest taking those with a grain of salt. Dr. Stoddard is an excellent physician.
Dr. Stoddard performed my first colonoscopy. Before the procedure she introduced herself, asked about my family history, and gave an overview of how things would go. Everything went smoothly. When things were done Dr. Stoddard came by and explained to me (while still drowsy) and my wife how things went. I would not put too much stock in the previous negative reviews. Maybe they expected her to be more bubbly or something; I don't know. I found Dr. Stoddard to be knowledgeable, skilled, conscientious, and caring.
Dr. Stoddard was thorough, took time to ask questions and explain things, and did a great job with my surgery.
She was a consulting physician when my father had a stay in the hospital. Her bedside manner was rushed, unfriendly, arrogant and borderline hostile. She was unprofessional in her numerous interactions with us. Her clinical recommendations changed with each daily visit and left us feeling unsure of her clinical competence. She was a consulting physician when my parent had a stay in the hospital. Her bedside manner was rushed, unfriendly, arrogant and borderline hostile. She was unprofessional in her numerous interactions with us. Her clinical recommendations changed with each daily visit and left us feeling unsure of her clinical competence. She showed the same level of unprofessionalism in her interactions with hospital staff. If you have a choice of providers, I recommend you choose someone else. Perhaps in her free time she can take communication and patient experience coaching.
A doctor that cares and knows her stuff. It takes a special person to do what she does. Don
I overheard her giving the ER nurses a hard time when I was waiting for an emergency appendectomy. She took roughly 6 hours to call me to the OR. She was rude beforehand, didn't check on me before discharge, and didn't show up at my post-op. Did not return any phone calls. She (purposefully?) made my internal sutures so tight that I was in non-stop discomfort for over 4 months as they dissolved. My scarring is excessive and everyone who has seen it cringes "She gave you a second bellybutton!"
She performed a surgery on my husband and 4 days later still no word from her. He had complications and had to go to ER and still no word from her or her office. We were told to call the office for a follow up "next week sometime". He now has to have a more extensive surgery, which she will not be doing.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
