List of Alex D Manguikian's Reviews
Fairfax Eye Associates is a great way to go if you’re in need of an ophthalmologist. Staff is friendly, especially Julie. So nice and helpful. But most of all Dr. Manguikian is an awesome doctor! He really listened to all my questions and answered them honestly to help me make educated decisions. The good, the bad and the ugly. The time he was willing to spend with me to make me feel comfortable about my upcoming surgery was very refreshing. Not only is he knowledgeable but he’s got a great bedside manner as well. It seems I’ve been to a lot of doctors lately and Dr. Manguikian is a gem in a pile of rocks!!!
I, and my wife, have been going to his dad for over 40 years, and his son Alex is just as fine a doctor. We know he has the drive, and knowledge that his dad had, and still has into his retirement. I do not hesitate to do anything he prescribes, even into the operating room: which I am doing in the next couple weeks.
Absolutely horrible experience. They gave the wrong prescription and didn’t want to take responsibility. I would never recommend. So rude.
Outstanding doctor and very congenial. Dr. Manguikian is articulate and knowledgeable. He takes the time to fully explain everything. My two cataract surgeries were perfect.
For those who are not familiar, Wills is the #1 Eye Hospital in the country. I came down with a unique eye inflammation called "choroidal neo vascularization. Were it not for Dr. Alex's persistence and determination, I believe I would be blind now. He worked with me week after week, month after month and year after year. His compassion is heartfelt. He never said, I can't do anything more. I would leave his office feeling badly for him. I could witness the agony on his face due to not being able to fix it. He continued trying, and three years later I still have 20/20 vision in my eye that only recently showed symptoms. I can't express my gratitude and comfort having found such a wonderful doctor and human being. BTW-His staff is just as outstanding as he is. Thank you Dr. Alex. May God Bless you real good.
Both my brother and I took off of work to bring my mom to get cataract surgery and the paperwork THEY gave her when scheduling her surgery said she would have the surgery done on her left eye. When she arrived for the surgery the receptionist said they were going to do her right eye and a “oh someone should have called you about this”. Of course there was no call. Without getting into too many specifics, that’s problematic. No apology from the office, just an “oops” that they made a mistake with the paperwork. A “mistake”??!!! Lots to be concerned about here. Very concerned about how she was treated. If you don’t care about patients who have been with you for 30 years, think about how they will treat the people you care about.
Absolutely delighted with results. I have my left eye set for reading and my right eye set for distance. I have retired my glasses!
I went to see Dr. Manguikian because my neurologist requested I go to an Ophthalmologist after being diagnosed with Intracranial Hypertension / Papilledema. Dr. Manguikian then referred me to a neuro-ophthalmologist. The referral he gave me, unfortunately was to a doctor out of my insurance's network. Okay, that's something I felt was my responsibility since it is my insurance. I looked EVERYWHERE for another neuro-ophthalmologist and finally found one with Inova! I am now seeing a Neurologist and a neuro-ophthalmologist. Both doctors have asked me to go back to the ophthalmologist to get a fundes photo (a photo of the retina) and refracted. Sounds like a simple request. Eileen the receptionist absolutely REFUSED to schedule my appointment. After three days of "Okay, I'll tell him you said that." and "Well he said this..." I asked to speak to him directly because I felt having the middle person communicating my information to the doctor was just watering down what I was requesting and what I was saying. I was informed he was not in the office and furthermore, I cannot be seen there because I have to be seen by the neuro-ophthalmologist. Basically we are not going to help you! Anyone know of an ophthalmologist that takes Aetna EPO and is willing to actually help me?
-The staffs were so unprofessional. Very very importantly, it’s very sad that they are not only unprofessional, they are very disrespectful too. -The doctor had no time for patient questions. He was not friendly at all and ,overall, i had a very bad experiences during my visits. I am glad i changed my doctor currently. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
