List of David M Heyer Md's Reviews
I was very grateful and had a wonderful experience with the care and treatment with Dr. Heyer. He brought compassion and excellence throughout my cancer treatment.
Dr Heyer is amazing. I’m currently going through chemo treatments and he makes it incredible easy. His pleasant smile and great really help. He and his team of Drs are wonderful. They are very down to earth and will answer all my questions.
I mistook Dr Heyer’s indifference for thoughtfulness. When I was under observation it was ok, just labs and routine tests, the office staff was very pleasant. When the crisis struck early October, it took me until December 27 to get the biopsy done which turned positive. Dr Heayer did not believe it was necessary. He was never there. All my communication was through his nurse whom I used to respect and trust. I learned the results from another compassionate doctor, who enabled me to overcome the initial shock, cope, regroup and start looking for a solution all over holidays. I saw Dr Heyer early Jan, when he was finally ready to share the news and was quite surprised we knew. When I asked him why he didn’t contact me earlier, he defiantly responded he was not there. Well, what’s new? We walked out of his office that day NEVER to be followed up. Nobody called to check if I needed any assistance, or how I was doing under dismal circumstances. We were on our own.
Dr Heyer provided excellent information and caregiving during a difficult process. He made me laugh during trying times. That is invaluable.
Dr. Heyer cares and takes time with you to help you understand the processes your body is going through. My wife and I asked many questions. We never felt rushed. I always had a great experience with all of the staff. (Even though it was not my favorite time in my life.)
Was treated for tonsil cancer by Dr. Heyer in early 2017. He was an outstanding doctor. I never felt rushed or that I was just another number to him. His knowledge and expertise was first rate (he immediately caught an early diagnostic error and had confirmed it was wrong even before I met him in person). He seems a little aloof in person but he is actually extremely observant just not apparent.
I recommend Dr Heyer highly. He is kind, patient, professional and a wonderful Oncologist!
Dr. Heyer is wonderful physician - very knowledgeable, patient, caring, and compassionate. He spent 45 min with me and answered all of my questions and concerns without an ounce of impatience. I would highly recommend him. Just overlook his front desk staff who need remedial training in customer service.
I was diagnosed with CLL in May and have been researching the best place to go. I was told INOVA. My appointment was with Dr. Heyer. I tried telling him about my neck and back pain and my increased fatigue. His exact quote, "everyone who has CLL blames there symptoms on the diagnosis" . I tried telling him this is how it all started in Nov. He wasn't listening, he said as you get older you get arthritis. Hence, his answer was two MRI with and without contrast, iron and B12 tested. He said he would call me with results but that never happened. I called the office, my results were my MRI was excellent and iron and B12 normal. I am now at JOHN HOPKINS and I love it. Patients are heard.
I did not see Dr. Heyer and have never met him. These comments are related to how my scheduled appointment with him was handled. It seemed to me that his office staff was too eager on registering new patients. The biopsy results were expected on Friday. I had scheduled an appointment with Dr. Heyer a few weeks in advance in case biopsy results showed that I should see Dr. Heyer. I called them on Wednesday to say I wanted to postpone the appointment until after the biopsy results were in. If tests were negative for cancer, there would be no need to see Dr. Heyer. But his office assistant insisted that I see Dr. Heyer on Thursday itself saying that " we have your pathological report and that you should see him. This caused a lot of anxiety as I was thinking the worst. Does Dr. Heyer know about the biopsy results that neither the my pulmonologist, who ordered the biopsy and who actually performed the procedure at Fairfax Hospital, or me know about it? The office assistance seemed to be totally clueless about the stress and anxiety the office was putting me through. They simply seemed to care more about grabbing new patients than caring about the patients themselves. Extremely poor training and lack of patient care are responsible for this kind of behavior.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
