List of Jiyeon E Shin's Reviews
Dr. Shin is one of my all-time favorite doctors. She is kind, knowledgeable and extremely caring. She genuinely pays attention to every detail and listens to your concerns. The medical community desperately needs more professionals like her.
I've read all the negative comments and I agree with them, but I wouldn't be so harsh. I think she really cares about her patients and tries to be kind and respectful, but she doesn't seem to understand how deeply sensitive and vulnerable some people can be about certain topics and said things to me that completely devestated me, but I understood she was trying to help and just didn't get it. I desperately want to have children, but not by myself, and at the time of my first visit I was thinking about getting my eggs frozen, which I have since done through Shady Grove. She told me every discouraging thing she could about my chances (including immediately pointing out that I needed to lose weight - Nice to meet you too!) and she did it several times over multiple visits and even told me that the eggs might not work out after I got them frozen so I wouldn't get my hopes up. She also gave me what seemed at the time like devastating news about my hormone levels abruptly over the phone while I was at work and I had to go sit and the bathroom and cry. At that time in my life I was hanging on by a thread, crying everyday because I have no control over my age or the fact that I can't find an even remotely suitable partner to have children with or the fact that I am not equipped with the type of personality or life-circumstances to do it alone, but giving up my hope of having a baby feels like death to me, so everytime she pushed me to give up hope so that I wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't work out, what she was actually doing was pushing me closer and closer to wanting to give up on life and die. Again, I am sure she had no idea what her words were doing to me and she really cared and thought she was helping, but she really, really was not. Any woman in her late 30s who comes to an OBGYN to talk to them about having children already knows that the odds are against her, she has already heard every negative thing she possibly could about her statistical ability to concieve and have a healthy child. No one needs to explain that to her!! But everyone is different and the popular science that everyone spouts is exaggerated, cruel, and horrible and doesn't acknowledge that a lot of women are perfectly capable of having healthy children later in life. My test results and genetic history are very encouraging and I just desperatly needed someone to point that out and please help me not to give up hope. I had to find someone else to do that for me and undo that low-grade trauma she inadvertently caused. She's a tough love person. Tough love people are good for each other, but not for others. So if you're a tough love kind of person, you'll connect with her and she'll be a good fit for you, but if you are a highly sensitive person, she's not for you.
I love Dr Shin. She’s a tough cookie but she means well. She is kind, gentle and really seems to take the time to get to know you and will advise you, whether it’s good or bad! I had my kids with this doctors at this practice and wouldn’t have chose anyone else.
I would never choose another doctor. She’s smart, gentle, kind. I’ve been coming to this practice for 6 years
I love Dr Shin! She’s a tough cookie but always means well. She won’t shy away from telling you something negative. I looked forward to seeing her every visit and I’ve been going to the practice for almost 6 years.
I had to race with the light speed when talking to Dr. Shin! She rushed me so much and she did not believe the medical history I told her.
Love the OBGyn group she belongs to but i do not like Dr. Shin at all. She is mean, always rushing, cold and most importantly, she ignores and never listens to her patients. I get it that you are the doctor here, but i think it's important to listen to what i have to say before you make quick judgement. i always feel so rushed at her appointments like i don't deserve her extra 10 seconds. i try to stay away from her with my annuals and i told my husband if by any chance we end up with her at the delivery room, i'll be in a better hand with whoever on duty at the hospital and not have Dr. Shin deliveries my baby. i think being smart and knowing what she is doing is one thing, but hey, there are SO MANY smart AND nice/respectful doctors out there. I, as patient, have a choice too and i choose not to go with her.

I have been seeing Dr. Shin for a few years now, and she is just wonderful. She never rushes, answers all of your questions, and provides sound advice. The staff is very friendly as well, which is also important. I just wish she was a family doctor so I could see her for physicals and year-round care. I also appreciate her philosophy of eating healthy and getting most of your nutrients from food, not supplements, etc. Love her!
Dr. Shin get's 1 star from me. I met her to consult about getting pregnant. Im 42 yrs now. She discouraged me like anything regarding the pregnancy, about the age gap between my 11 yr old son & the baby if born, etc etc. It was a disappointing meeting & was not worth it. I wish I had met someone else. She is too judgmental about the appearance & diet & assumed I drink a lot of sodas & eat sugar which I don’t. She has the annoying way of continuously talking without really listening. Also argues. Very opinionated. I wish she was not part of the Greenbriar .

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
