List of Laurel C Blakemore's Reviews
Very underwhelming My daughter was referred to Dr. Blakemore for her lower back pain. I took with me the results from her MRI. She completely dismissed what the doctor said about her back. She told my 16 year old daughter that she needed to move more and lose weight. Even though she gained weight because her back started hurting, not the other way around. She just seemed like she would have rather been somewhere else than in the room with my daughter. I ended up taking my daughter to get a second option. Just like the doctor who read her MRI and her pediatrician who looked at the report and referred her, he said that she has a stress fracture and has to wear a brace for 8 weeks. He also said that luckily it wasn't bad enough that she needed surgery. But what would have happened if I just listened to her? She was completely horrible with my daughter.
She does not listen to her patients My daughter had spinal fusion surgery with Dr. Blakemore. We went back for our one-year visit and explained that she had continuous pain and the PT ordered did nothing to help the pain. Her response was 'We just don't know who will still have pain post-surgery and who won't. The x-rays show everything looks good.' I asked her to recommend additional therapy which she did only after I requested it. I also pointed out screws that were protruding from her back that were very uncomfortable for her, and she said that was normal because of her size. To imply a 14 year old is going to be in pain forever was jarring. We have since been to another surgeon who actually took the time to order a CT and MRI and informed us that the those protruding screws are actually loose and the bones did not fuse where those screws became loose. I feel if Dr. Blakemore had taken the time to listen to us and actually order additional imaging instead of brushing us off, we could have prevented so much pain!
This doctor wasn’t for us. She entered the exam room disinterested and made us feel like we were wasting her time. She seemed bored while gathering the patient history. She dismissed our concerns and offered little more than chronic pain management for our 15 year old previously very athletic daughter that just wants to return to life as she knows it. I have a medical background and I have doubts about some of what she was saying. Will be seeking a second opinion for sure.

Worst Experience We had very unpleasant experience with Dr. Blakemore. Her manner of talking and questioning ‘why do you care if my son has or has not his condition’ seemed very unprofessional. She did not provide any recommendations for treatment unless I asked for them. I would not recommend her to anyone ever.
Great follow up Dr Blakemore left plenty of time for questions and was great to work with. She was very sweet with my baby as well.
We had high hopes for answers to our daughter’s back and shoulder issues - Dr. Blakemore was not interested in listening or addressing anything other than our daughter not being a candidate for surgery, which we already knew. We really just wanted an educated opinion and way forward, but immediately she dismissed our daughter’s chronic pain and said she could not help. Never again will we set foot inside that hospital…shame on her for providing zero compassion or interest and adding more hopelessnesses to a teenage athlete’s plate . If you’re not a candidate for surgery - don’t waste your time.
We recently met with Dr. Blakemore who determined my daughter is a candidate for VBT as opposed to a large spinal fusion (approx. T3-L3). I appreciate her taking the time to assess whether or not my child was a candidate and proposing a better way to treat her rapidly increasing curve.
Dr. Blakemore has managed our daughter’s scoliosis for several years and has done a wonderful job. Recently, our daughter fell and sustained a severe upper arm fracture that required surgical repair. Dr. Blakemore handled her surgery and did an excellent job. We have the utmost confidence in Dr. Blakemore’s skills and care. As a pediatrician and a mom, I recommend Dr. Blakemore without reservation.
I would confidently recommend Dr. Blakemore to family and friends. We travel from 2 hours away to see her because she is clearly the most trusted expert in her field for miles around. She and her staff are very thorough, caring, and spend time answering all of our questions.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
