Dr. Akbari is a terrific doctor! She has a reputation as a top cardiologist that is very well-deserved. She's incredibly knowledgeable and has always given me excellent care and treatment. And she's compassionate, down-to-earth, and a terrific listener, to boot. She goes above and beyond for her patients (and I thank her for it)!

My experience with Dr. Akbari was unique and very positive. In my initial consult, she took time to get to know me and my medical history. She is very personable and has an excellent bedside manner. As her patient, I felt like she truly cares about my medical needs. Her staff was efficient and caring. She suggested some diagnostic tests and seems very proactive. I felt relief after my appointment. It is rare to find a physician who seems so relatable.

As a colleague physician and also a patient, Dr Akbari is a rare find. Not only is she a superbly skilled interventional cardiologist but she is also thorough, meticulous, patient and with an impeccable human approach to her patients. Dr.Akbari is an unequalled asset to INOVA Cardiology and the medical profession as a whole.

Dr. Akbari and Dr. Cunnion (her husband) actually saved my life! After 3 years of AFIB, I arrived in Triiage at Fairfax Hospital (the best hospital). Dr. Akbari met me I have no idea why Dr. Akbari, the Head of her prestigious practice, was working in Emergency Room Triage. She said, “Why has no one treated you in 2 1/2 years?” She took immediate action. She said, “I am going to cardiovert you with or without your doctor’s approval.” She immediately called my electro cardiologist. She came back to me and said, “ You will be cardioverted in two days!” My heart returned to normal sinus rhythm after 800 volts of electricity. The next morning I met her husband, Dr. Cunnion. He said we care about you! Imagine that! He knew everything without looking at the computer. I thank this incredible Couple for saving My life. God Bless You! Excellent, excellent, excellent – Dr. Akbari is one of the best doctors I’ve ever visited. She is thorough and knowledgeable and, best of all, was willing to experiment with anti-angina treatments until she got optimal result. Dr. Akbari is exactly as others have described her – empathetic, curious and an excellent listener. Witty, too. Any way to clone her for the good of society? Her assistant, Carla, is also stellar.
