List of Nancy Hafner's Reviews
After 15 years of searching, I've finally found my perfect gyno. Dr. Hafner truly cares for her patients. She provides the perfect amount of detail for a non-medical person to understand. Dr. Hafner is thorough before performing any procedure and has excellent bedside manners. After hours and on weekends, the office has on-call doctors available and saved me a trip to the ER. Then they followed up the next workday to ensure everything was okay. It me took a long time but I've finally found a gyno I am comfortable with and fully trust with my health.
PLEASE READ HER YELP BEFORE CHOOSING THIS PROVIDER. I’m pasting my review in because I feel that strongly that no person should ever have Dr. Hafner as their provider: Wow, I wish you could give zero stars. If you have the resources to find a different doctor, DO IT IMMEDIATELY. Not only is the support staff at this office just plain rude, they also clearly don't care about patients. You'd think someone who sought out a job in women's health would care about a woman's experience in a doctor's office--but you would be dead wrong. Most of what I have to say is from my experience getting an IUD at this office. First, I want to say that my *decision* to get an IUD was one of the best I've ever made. And my experience having one inside my body has been great too. But this office completely screwed up my insertion and did NOTHING to remedy it. It starts with my yearly appointment, where I disclosed that I wanted an IUD. Dr Hafner (who clearly did not know who i was or remember anything about my personal situations) did not ask me *ANY* questions about my sexual health or preferences, she just said sure and picked Mirena. (Which, after having researched it is troublesome to me, as there ARE IUDs out there that are specifically made for women who haven't had children). Okay, whatever. Then comes the paperwork/backend side, where I confirmed with my insurance company that the procedure and IUD itself would be *completely* covered. Which is WHY I wanted it. When I return for my appointment, I had the expected uncomfortable insertion, but I was happy to finally have my IUD. Then, I got the bill. Without telling me AT ALL, before during or afterwards, Dr. Hafner injected my cervix with a painkiller. A painkiller that was not covered by my insurance and costs me HUNDREDS of dollars. When I expressed concern to the office, every single person who worked there brushed me off, did not care, and told me that I should just have to deal with it. She probably though the needle would freak me out. Or She gave the care she thought was necessary. So sure, maybe she wasn't legally obligated to tell me... but is that the kind of doctor you want?!?! Going to a GYN is arguably one of the MOST vulnerable times in a woman's life. I want a doctor who makes me feel comfortable, not like something happened to my reproductive system that I did not give consent for. I felt completed violated and not a single person at this office care even a little bit. The worst part: I still had to go back for my 6 week check up and I felt SO completely uncomfortable returning to this office now and SO uncomfortable having this women perform any more procedures on me. So I requested another doctor. In addition to this enormous cost for me, Dr Hafner also messed up my insertion. After placing my Mirena, Dr Hafner cut the string way too short, so that any GYN looking up into my cervix will NEVER be able to feel the string. Also, I will NEVER be able to feel the string. While this isn't a medical problem, it is something that has kept me up at night, terrified that I don't know if my IUD is still in place, or if it has broken through my uterus.
I do not recommend this office for people who suffer from endometriosis. I came to this office in the Spring of 2018 with suspected endometriosis. I had been to the ER three times in a two month period with unbearable pain. I went to Dr. Hafner hoping that she would help me because she claims to be knowledgeable on treating endometriosis. After telling her that birth control was no longer helping me with management and that I was seeking treatment, she agreed to perform a diagnostic laparoscopic surgery on me. In July 2018, she performed the surgery and when I woke up she told me that she found nothing and that I was "perfectly healthy". At our post-op appointment she told me that sometimes going in and "moving stuff around" resolved pain for some women, then she suggested I continue with the pill, go see a gastroenterologist, and that there was nothing she could do for me. I've never felt more invalidated and discouraged about my pain than I did seeing her. I spent thousands of dollars on her GI specialist recommendation which involved expensive unnecessary medication to help with endometriosis related bloating, food sensitivities and pain, and a colonoscopy that was clear and again unnecessary. Because of her misdiagnosis, two other GYN's treated me like I was crazy because Dr. Hafner stated I was "healthy" in her surgical report. Two years later, I was diagnosed with stage I endometriosis and had it excised from my ovary and both uterosacral ligaments by an endometriosis expert in Los Angeles at Cedars Sinai. He was shocked that Dr. Hafner missed my endometriosis because the lesions were clearly visible and did not believe she did a thorough job checking for endometriosis. The amount of medical trauma and invalidation caused by this doctor is heartbreaking to say the least. I do not recommend seeing her if you have suspected endometriosis because she is NOT a specialist and does not have the most up to date knowledge on this condition. Please take your time and money elsewhere.
I've been seeing Dr. Hafner for several years now and have been very happy both with her and the office assistants. After my appointment today, I was so happy with the service that I thought I should write a review. She is on time for the appointment and does not rush through it. Each time, she reviews my medical history as well as my family's. The physical exam is complete and thorough. She reminds me when I need to schedule a colonoscopy, mammogram or bone density test. She is friendly and pleasant throughout. I highly recommend her.
As an update, my visit to this office was $1000 between the first consult with the colpo and the follow up virtual "consult" (ie stating lab results). Again the fact that she tried to force me into surgery, + perform it under general anesthesia is just gross and completely driven by greed, not patient health. Seek a second opinion if you've already seen her, but more importantly - stay away.
Money hungry, does not have the patient's best interests in mind. Told me I needed LEEP procedure, which she said I'd have to do in the OR under general anesthesia after an abnormal colposcopy. Asked if there were other options to which she said no. Got a second opinion at GW hospital and the doctor said 1) my results didn't warrant surgery that could potentially affect fertility - it could be monitored yearly / would likely clear on its own since I am young, and 2) even if I did require the procedure, LEEP is typically done in office under LOCAL anesthesia and takes less than 30 minutes. Dr. Hafner also has bad reviews on performing LEEP procedures, so its pretty scary that she tries to force patients into it....and into the most invasive, expensive, and dangerous version of the procedure. She also charged $200 for a 10 minute "virtual visit" where she just told me that I had an abnormal colpo. Never had a doctor charge for providing lab results.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
