List of Ryan G Miyamoto's Reviews
Dr Miyamoto is a great Surgeon and a good person. He did 3 shoulder operations on me, fixed everything total pain free now. Too much weighlifting I had had a tear and 2 impingements He took care of it all If you got shoulder situation he is your man Great with a scope. Good doc, good man. Dave C. Chantilly, Va
Went into the hospital for three days after an accident. Dr. Miyamoto came by to treat for several fractures. This went well. The hospital classified this as observational care and was confirmed with the hospital. His billing person submitted this to insurance as inpatient-which resulted in additional cost to us- and insisted this had to be the case. Dr. Miyamoto was aware of this. His billing person refused to call the hospital to check. The larger problem was beyond cost--it was that this was a very unpleasant experience.
I sought out Dr. Miyamoto for a second opinion. Unlike my original provider, Dr. Miyamoto did a thorough physical exam and answered. He then said the only treatment was arthroscopic surgery. He had me scheduled within a few weeks. Everything was a breeze to set up. The surgery was a success. He set me up for a complete recovery. He has a great sense of humor and his staff is superb. He’s got a reputation as the best in the area and it is well deserved.
Highly recommend Dr Miyamoto. Excellent results from my shoulder surgery. Explains his diagnosis and takes time to answer questions. Excellent staff support at Town Center Orthopaedics.
I had gone to another provider who I didn't feel was doing things the right way. I saw Dr. Miyamoto who took a look at my MRI, did an actual physical examination, which previous provider didn't do, and diagnosed a few things, including some things missed by the other provider. I had surgery and he got everything taken care of. He was recommended by some others as the best in the area.
Came in to review situation of back; came out with a recommendation to get a new hip pronto. WRONG. Every neurosurgeon I've seen since said, NO, you do NOT need a new hip (this after reviewing the multiple CAT scans and MRIs). Weird, right? Maybe worse. Makes the age-old advice "get a second opinion" seem prescient.
Dr. Miyamoto is a nice person, however, his staff are a complete disappointment. I was left severely ill and almost calling the ambulance from a medication that he prescribed me. (Found out that it's banned in Canada and Europe which isn't great.) When I shared this horror story with a member of his staff (Juliet), she responded that "well it's not banned here." To have staff that show no ability to listen or show empathy left me speechless. Be warned
After having worked with two other surgeons to fix my hip, Dr. Ryan Miyamoto was the one who actually did it. During appointments, he was always friendly and in the moment (not rushing to get to his next appointment or patient) and seemed to really enjoy working with his patients. I appreciated that very much. Very happy with the final results on my hip, and i'm back to working out again. Highly recommend.
Dr. Miyamoto goes by the philosophy that surgery is a last option and will provide many many alternatives before even considering surgery–i think that is the hallmark of a great doctor who cares about his patients.
I was referred to him for left shoulder pain. He treated it. I am pain free now. He explained the procedure and was very empathetic.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
