Thorough and respectful. A previous Cardiologist had convinced my husband and I that he had to live like an invalid. Dr. Escanellas encouraged him to be more active and really gave him his life back. He took the time to explain, show us test results, and answer questions. I highly recommend him.

We were very disappointed with Dr. Escanellas at a first patient visit. While the nurse practitioner was top notch and asked intelligent questions and listened well, Dr. E was the opposite. His one-size fits all approach was not patient centered.

I am glad to see that Dr. Escanellas really does help some people according to these reviews. One review I read states that he listens and doesn’t rush you while you ask questions. Not the experience I had. He would ask me a question, then not even wait for me to finish responding before cutting me off with another question or making his own statement. I also saw he won an award for bedside manner and I thought that it must have been voted on by his peers, but apparently he really does help some people and respects them when he speaks to them. I’m glad to hear it. Maybe I met him while he was having a bad week, but he’s not a doctor that I would visit again.

Blockage was found during a stress test, and Dr Escanellas made arrangements for me to have a stent inserted at UVA in less than two weeks. I found him to be very up front with information as well as explaining every step that I was to go through, and he answered every question and made certain that I understood what the tests showed and why things needed to be addressed.
