Record your consultation with Dr. Cooper. I did and I am so thankful.
Avoid at all costs! Went to Dr Cooper 3 years ago and I haven't been able to walk since. Excruciating pain everyday and night. BUTCHER!!! AVOID. He is horrible to talk to-if you can get him to talk and not yell. He is sarcastic and his ego will one day ruin him. The wait in the office is not bad but the wait for him is ridiculous. Hes in his own little world. You will regret seeing him for the rest of your life. Don't let him do surgery on you!
Dr. Cooper has performed ankle replace surgery on both my ankles after an accident on a metro escalator. The results have been outstanding and I can walk without discomfort or pain. I highly recommend him if you require ankle or foot surgery. I am amused about some of the evaluations of him that he does not have bedside manner. I disagree. He has a dry sense of humor and besides who cares? The most important time that you spend with this surgeon, you are asleep! Willo PequegnatBethesda, Maryland
Was in a car accident January 16,2017 and broke my femur. Was flown to PG Hospital had a rod put in in leg, have been doing therapy at Medstar Beanbiulding in Hollywood, and that's where the therapist told me that I had issues with my feet and gave me your information. My bid toe doesn't touch the ground or bend, and second toe is hammered toe both on right foot. Had knots in arch of both feet and right foot will not point straight. Hurts to stand and balancing is a issue. Right toes are pointed in wrong directions. I called PG they sent me to Maryland they said took X-rays said that feet were broken and bones healed back up wrong. I went back to PG got records and seen where they took X-rays of the right foot, and said it had broken metatarsals but didn't do anything to it. So it healed up wrong. Now two years later I have problems. Is this something you can fix and shouldn't they have done something when they found a broken bone to prevent a problem later on like I have. Would like to hear back from you don't know how much you miss your big toe until you can't use it. If this is something you think you can fix let me know and will make a appointment
I never felt like she believed me when I told her about my allergic issues. Her tone was condescending
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Doctors are supposed to uphold ethical standards. This man is ego and profit driven and has destroyed a life. Not only did he perform an unnecessary orthopedic surgery, but he screwed it up. Afterwards, he prescribed the strongest opioids to a teenager for long periods of time. Doctors like him have contributed to our country being in the midst of an opioid epidemic. He just wanted to perform surgery and collect the costs. We should all seek doctors who care about the well-being of the patient, who have compassion and who went into the medicine for the right reasons. He should have his medical license taken away.
Dr. Cooper has a big ego, a loud voice, is sarcastic, etc...He didn't even close the door or introduce himself/shake my hand when he came in. He left a woman standing in the doorway staring at me during our appointment and didn't tell me who she was or why she was observing. The hallway was so loud with interns and residents talking about their social lives instead of working. If you want someone who has good bedside manner he is not for you. I took the first appointment of the day at 8am and still waited almost 2 hours! His staff is also rude and unwelcoming and they probably are like this because so many people comment about the wait. I guess that's what you get when you go to a hospital doctor's office rather than a clinic or private practice. When he finally arrived he spent time critiquing my original surgeon's work and saying things like "I would have done this" and "he removed more bone than I would have and I would have used pins?" He was bashing podiatrists like most orthopedics do. I've already spent the last 6 weeks frustrated at my original surgeon, so instead of reminding me about everything you would have done differently lets focus on how to get me better and progress forward, not dwell on what has already been done! Way to make a patient feel bad about themselves and their decisions. He needs to go back to med school to retake a class on patient comfort and optimism...
I had a Total Ankle Replacement and it went very well! Prior to surgery I was walking with a rigid brace and a cane and even then I couldn't walk far. Since the surgery I don't even need to think about walking! If the dogs want to go for a walk we just go. He had to remove some hardware and reshape the bone but now I have full flexibility! I'm going to a wedding next week and I can't wait to dance again! I didn't think I'd make a good candidate for a replacement as I am overweight (lack of exercise due to the pain) and I am diabetic, but Dr. Cooper checked me out and said I was a good candidate.
I'm going to start by saying that Dr. Cooper has a terrible bedside manner, which is why I'm not giving him five stars. But I've gone from not being able to walk a half a block without severe pain (and literally having to crawl afterwards) to being able to walk 2-3 miles at a time without any adverse after-effects. So if the bedside manner isn't great, what does it matter as long as the results are?
Dr. Paul S. Cooper was my last hope on a long medical journey and he truly delivered. I developed dropped foot after hip replacement and nerve damage. I had additional nerve surgery which unfortunately was unable to address my problem. My nerve surgeon gave me the name of two foot/ankle surgeons. The first surgeon, told me to continue to wait to see if my nerve would regenerate (I knew it wasn't going to) and restart my physical therapy (I already had five months.) Had he stayed to complete the visit or listen to my symptoms and past course of treatment, he would have realized that his statements were insulting at best. This visit left me extremely frustrated. Three days later, I had my appointment with Dr. Cooper. It was a refreshing change. I gave him the history of my long journey and he assured me that I would be driving again by January/February timeframe. (My foot lost the capacity to move up and to the right as well as drooped so I had to wear a brace in order to walk and not trip.) During my visit, Dr. Cooper outlined the procedure he would undertake. He answered all of my questions and spent a considerable amount of time with me to ensure I knew what would happen and how he would fix my foot. I was impressed with the team approach Dr. Cooper took to aid in my recovery, successful outcome, administer the highest standard of care. Dr. Cooper stated he worked with a team of physical therapists that he has personally trained and knows his protocol. To round out the team, he has Hanger Clinic and their orthotists work with him. I found this approach very unique. My surgery was to complete a tendon transfer and Achilles lengthening. Dr. Cooper assured me, as did the team at Georgetown, that I would walk without a brace and drive again by January/February. He did not disappoint. Throughout my care, I had complete access to Dr. Cooper and his team. If I had any questions, I called his office and my phone call was quickly returned. Dr. Cooper has a great dry wit and puts me at ease during each visit. For the first time in more than a year, I feel positive and hopeful. I'm very thankful that I found Dr. Cooper! I would highly recommend his knowledge, technical skill and care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
