List of Mark Mcclanahan's Reviews
Great doctor and staff very professional, polite and knowledgeable.
I'd love to be able to review the doctor, but we couldn't get past the gatekeeper on the phone. Although they are listed in the TRICARE directory as "in-network" and "accepting new patients," we were told that they are not. And the person on the phone called me "Honey." That's just plain unprofessional.
I tried making an appointment today and was inforned they would no longer see me as my account was turned over to collections which was ultimately paid in full, just not quick enough for this doctors office. I was a patient during the start of covid and had to get an infusion and was unaware of the huge amount I would be responsible for until after the fact. Took me a while to pay that balance off due to having covid twice during that time and then having my hours cut also due to covid. Seems to me they would make concessions for the ones who were affected by covid but obviously it's all about the money. Such a shame. I only gave them 1 star as it wouldn't let me post without it.
It seems like they don't want to help patients here. I was questioned like i was an inconvenience to them and made to jump through hoops just to try and book an appointment. In the end they just stopped messaging me.
I was a patient with Dr. McClanahan about 10 years ago. I am hypothyroid and had fluctuating numbers and symptoms since I was 22 before I saw him. For the brief time Dr. M was my doctor, he got my levels to exactly where they needed to be. It was the best I had felt in years. He has his own lab and looks at all numbers, not just TSH. I even lost the weight I had gained due to never having good levels before I saw him. I was really sad when I had to let him go when I had to move from the area. Unfortunately, my thyroid care has been taken on by other doctors and I went right back to the up and down craziness of my levels that goes along with this disorder. They never test all the levels, but only TSH. To test all, I have to specifically ask and then, it's an argument. It is sad that anyone has to go through this in any of the medical circles when there are doctors who do know how to regulate this disorder without having to do crazy diets or any other thing. Insurances do dictate a lot of how one is treated. I have read the reviews that said Dr. M does not take certain insurances. And that may be because they will not cover his personal lab expenses or whatever else he does. Medicaid can especially be difficult as they often only will send you to doctors they agree to and anything else is something you have to pay out of pocket. It's a tough game to play with your health, but it is one they do play. I currently have a granddaughter who has a condition where she's been sent by her doctors to the Mayo Clinic. The insurance her single mother has is not government issued, but thru her job. They will not take it. And that is the great Mayo Clinic. I really liked my time with Dr. M's clinic. I would walk in and discuss my symptoms with the nurse and it was the first time I felt understood. Like I wasn't making up things. Dr. M also treated me that way. I highly recommend this doctor and the clinic for the very tough issues of autoimmune disorders. He truly is a rare find.
My visit was fine, but the billing is antiquated and the female at the billing office is rude and will not protect your personal information. Dr. McClanahan won’t even take the time to hear a patients concerns, he just dismisses them.
Been going to this office for a while. Scott Urquhart P.A. has been great every appointment. The reason for the 1 star is a very poor billing department and front office staff. I was barred from that practice for billing errors that I have receipts for. Billing is not done locally or in office so there's no one to talk to.
I have been a patient of Dr. McClanahan's since moving to Virgina in 2016. I find him to be friendly, taking the time to listen & to fully explain everything. The wait times are reasonable, never long at all , the staff are all very nice, friendly & helpful. Judy Scoma in Fredericksburg, Va. - July 26, 2020
Dr. McClanahan is excellent but some of his office staff are a bit rude at times. The billing number at the site is incorrect but the office explained that it was not their responsibility to correct it though I had left messages for weeks over a billing issue.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. McClanahan for years ! He is “simply the best”! ( He even called me while I was on vacation to give me the good test result news!) He’s smart - knowledge- as well as personable ! ( My appointments are always on time - no waiting - which Is a must for me) When I move to Florida, I shall travel back to see him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
