Associates In Pediatrics's Online Review Report Card

If you are at all in favor of your child being treated like an individual and receive medical care based on his or her own individual needs and circumstance, do NOT go to Dr. Tamara Sutherland. Honestly, if I could give zero stars, I would. We opted to not do the Hep B shot for our brand new baby and denied it again at his two month appt. Both times, I was shockingly met with intense judgment, but at his two month, she looked me dead in the eye and said, “There is no greater mom guilt than watching your child die from a preventable disease.” My jaw hit the floor and we never went back. And just for the record, we aren’t “anti-vax” and did all the others on the schedule. Guess that wasn’t enough. Dr. Sutherland, what about the mom guilt I’d feel watching my child unnecessarily endure a severe (and possibly life-altering) adverse reaction to a medication he doesn’t need?

The practice is great, the docs so far have been great, but the amount of time you wait is ridiculous. Example: 4PM Appt, Nurse comes in to do a few things, doc comes into the room around 5PM. Literally, 45-50 minutes waiting in a room with kids (plural) under 2. Are they over scheduling? Are all pediatricians like this? Absolutely painful.

This is a wonderful pediatric practice, and I recommend them to anybody!

Only good thing I found about them is that you can get an appointment quick. Otherwise, when I took my son with symptoms of fever, severe cold and cough, they didn’t even test anything for Covid, Flu etc, weren’t sure themselves what’s exactly going on with him but started an antibiotic straight away.

I am not sure how an office can be so behind in the morning, not helpful for working parents taking time off unless you take the whole day

Great experience. Everyone's so nice there. We loved Dr. Sean O'Boyle, he was very sweet with our infant.

This practice was a referral. I left our former pediatrician because of the rude front desk and nurse. Dr. Sutherland is sweet and kind at first, helpful, etc.. but as soon as you hit a nerve with more than a question or two, she's very passive aggressive, i.e. doesn't like a lot of questions, gets defensive when I say, "that's not what I said" (she doesn't listen, she's thinking about what she wants to say next), purposely put the father's name down on paper (he was the referral as a former running/cycling member together), called him first with lab results when I made it clear that I'm the primary caretaker, didn't like that I disagreed with her advice (she cared more about "CYA" than my son's condition and his specific needs) ...in other words, she generalized him instead of looking deeper into things for us.. she wouldn't take steps to help us narrow down my son's GI problem, instead, asked me what I wanted to do (mind blown). Sweet charm but cut throat. Front desk and nurses were the same way, didn't show a genuine interest in my family, didn't care to know us, just pressed to stay on schedule for the next patient. Got records transfered and out of there (and they didn't do it electronically like I requested, they sent me the hard files), I'm waiting for that random "spiteful" charge to pop up. She allowed us to call her Tammy, at the end she childishly requested I call her "Doctor"Sutherland because we butt heads. That's when I knew we needed to get out of there.

Dr. Sean O’Boyle was very attentive and patient during our appointment. He took the time to understand my son’s needs. He gave us three options to address our concerns and we all agreed on which option was best overall. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I highly recommend Dr. Sean O’Boyle and Associates in Pediatrics.

Dr. Charity Brown is the best pedestrian ever. I feel very comfortable that my kids are under her care. She is a great listener and teacher. She is non judge mental and listens to my perspectives no matter how big, small or silly with an open heart and gives unbiased feedback. Her nurse Jasmine is also very knowledgeable, loving and kind. Being a newcomer to the VA area- I am so happy I did thorough research and found an amazing team of people who treat my kids as their own.
