I have seen several providers at Tidewater Orthopedic over the past twenty years; all have been excellent, in my opinion. And I was not disappointed with my visit with Dr. Higgins on May 25, 2023. He was thorough and knowledgeable concerning my past history. To begin treatment, we are taking a conservative approach and revisit, if needed.

My knee took the brunt of a fall a week ago. The pain was still severe and the bruising was up and down my leg. At that point I thought maybe I had done something that needed attention. Dr. Higgins took x-rays and explained that no permanent damage had been done, it would just take time to heal. He was patient; he understood my concern and answered all my questions; he told me to return if I had further concerns.

3 times operated on. Two on my left knee and once on my right knee. Great results ! Each time.

Staff and nurses were nice. Doctor didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. Saw him for less than 5 minutes. Didn’t tell me how to care for my knee. If it wasn’t for the staff, I’d give him zero stars. I switched to Atlantic Orthopedics for my treatment. Having been a former patient of Atlantic Orthopedics and having gone back to them for my knee, I’m happy I switched.

Aug 20, 2021- met with Dr Higgins. He ordered an MRI of my left knee. I had to wait to hear back from insurance before he could administer gel injections. Sept 10- Dr Higgins finally review MRI but they never contacted insurance. Sept 13-17 still in pain... no word from Dr Higgins or his office. Finally, I called insurance. Dr Higgins office never submitted anything! After going back and forth for another week, they scheduled me on Sept 24th. After waiting, 30 mins in their lobby, they discovered they never order the gel injections!! I suffered for 7 weeks in excruciating pain and unprofessional treatment. I receive the gel injections Sept 28! Since then, I have changed orthopedics. This office doesn't deserve "1" star. I would not recommend this office or Doctor.

I had mencius surgery and I have been so impressed with the professionalism and kindness from all the staff, starting with the front desk ladies on my first appt. to my last. I was nervous going in, on the day of the surgery all the nurses and Dr. Higgins made me feel so comfortable. I am doing great and hope I never have to go back but if I do it will be with the wonderful Dr. Higgins and his staff!!
