His office staff were highly professional and efficient. Dr Gillian made me feel comfortable at every stage of the journey to and through the actual surgery and requisite follow up. Two huge thumbs up for Dr. Gillian.

I understand that at his/her own discretion, any doctor can deny providing service to a patient but just to ignore the patient and not to respond to many phones calls and requests to follow up without giving reason is unprofessional, unhuman and absolutely bad experience especially after learning that I need an acid reflux surgery ASAP. I am so sorry to see the below unprofessional reply, my complaining about the practice is that I was not even allow making a follow appointment. So what are you talking about?? Only that respectful lady at the front desk used to take my calls and then complete silence, then paging, then another silence for weeks. Your reply to my comments confirms that you are choosing your patients and that is absolutely fine. Hopefully my name and maybe my look were not the reason I was not allowed to follow up.

Was scheduled for surgery last Tuesday. All paperwork and pre surgical clearances were submitted by 3:00 Monday as requested.At 3:10 or 3:15 I got a call that said they didn’t get everything (confirmation from multiple sources that they had) and the cancelled the surgery. That was 3 days ago and they won’t return my calls and still haven’t rescheduled me. Oh I’ve had many empty promises,” call you right back”- never do….”Well add you on to Friday’s schedule”- no can do on their part… “We can look at Aug 2”- no can do on my part. I offered to go to either hospital and have either Dr perform the surgery. I jumped through hoops getting testing and appointments done in time. Nothing. Not even an apology for causing such chaos in my life. Stay clear from this practice. No malpractice but professional communication, consideration and respect for patients are nonexistent. Frustrated client

Dr G is superb, he performed laparoscopic hernia repair w/mesh, and LINX installation. GERD gone, no more PPI prescription! And amazingly fast recovery vs other surgeries.

What a Relief/Blessed Difference after more than a decade suffering with a supposedly "allergic" dry cough, which interrupted conversation and rendered singing, reading aloud and extended conversation impractical; this was accompanied by several years of unpleasant GERD/heartburn, a few years of allergy shots, and progressive medications. I eventually was referred to Dr Gillean, to my surprise, as I had never connected the cough to acid reflux, and my hernia.(The frequency of the cough had worsened in the past few years, and COVID onset delayed my referral.) I am Very Thankful to have had Dr Gillean do a lap hiatal hernia repair w/mesh, and installation of the LINX device. No more GERD, no more heartburn--and I can have a conversation w/o a coughing fit! So very glad my excellent otolaryngologist referred me to this world-class experienced surgeon. He is approaching 500 LINX procedures, apparently trains other surgeons in this, and I understand has performed around 2000 surgeries total of varied types. The surgery was performed at the Inova Alexandria Hospital, and I was quite pleased with the staff there. I therefore Highly recommend this surgeon, his PA, Ms Dithya, and the very able and responsive admin staff of Ms Tawana at the reception, and Ms Janet, the office manager. Encountering this practice has truly been life changing.

I recently had GERD surgery. VHHI is a very professional, and well run, organization, personified by Dr. Gillian. He is both knowledgeable and personable, putting me at ease about what the surgery would entail, what to expect, and patiently answering my questions, demonstrating both his experience in the field and his professional approach to patient care. I have not had many surgeries...thankfully...but would strongly recommend Dr. Gillian and VHHI should you require GERD or hernia treatment/surgery.

Shocked and saddened that I have to take time to write this review. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE. They were dismissive and rude AND they double charged me (cash payment upon arrival and billed my insurance). When I called to let them know they double charged me, they refused to cancel the insurance bill despite their records clearly showing I had already paid and no additional payments were necessary. SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME, I've been on hold with the 3rd party billing company for 20 minutes trying to resolve myself since "it's my fault"

Dr. Gillian performed a triple hernia as well as had to put in a mesh lining that went from my chest to above my groin. It's day 13 and I'm almost back to normal. I have GI issues especially with anesthesia so those persisted but the operation was a success and he was wonderful, informative, patient and kind. Highly recommend him. His office staff are wonderful as well - super customer centric. Never had to wait.
