List of John Klein's Reviews
Do NOT go to this doctor After months of having UTIs, Klein sent me for a CT scan. I got to the CT appointment only to be told Klein's office never sent the order. No response from Klein's office. Few days later Klein's office sent a new order but did not state that it was urgent and therefore would get me an appointment quickly. They never resent with the 'urgent' designation. Finally got the CT scan without contrast due to low kidney numbers. At the appointment with Klein, he disregarded the information from the scan and said it looks like the infection is gone. He gave me 'knuckles' and walked out the door. Oh, first he referred me to a female doctor who is better at women's issues. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Do not go to this doctor.
Dr. Klein and Potomac Urology Review I will begin my review with how I will end my review – Dr. Klein is a fantastic Urologist. I had serious issues with an enlarged prostate and Dr. Klein: 1. Is one of the most experienced Urologists in the area with the leading edge HoLEP and Aquablation procedures. 2. Explained the procedure options (risks) thoroughly, including PAE (which I probably would have done several years ago instead of meds). 3. Listened to my thoughts and concerns, and answered my questions clearly. 4. Solved my prostate problem with the HoLEP procedure without any complications. Please make a note that Potomac Urology is a very busy practice, so it can be difficult to get quick responses using the phone. It’s not fair to review a Doctor based on one’s phone communication experience as I have seen on some posts. The reason why they are so busy is 1) in the DC area, it seems that there are many people with urology related issues and 2) They are a great practice. Dr. Wong, Dr. Malhotra, several Nurses and
Dispensed expired medicine 1.) Performed excruciatingly painful Systoscopy. Then tried to make it funny saying: "some patients tolerate it better than others" 2.) As a result of the brutal, insensitive technique of Klein I urinated blood for 3 days. When I called seeking pain relief and assurance, he never answered rather just pushed it off on a nurse to write a pain-relief prescription. That pill provided no pain relief rather exacerbated the pain. 3.) After the extremely painful Systoscopy, I asked for something to ease the pain. He directed a nurse to provide a pill which turns your urine Blue while supposedly mitigating pain. It provided no relief. Later I discovered that medicine dispensed from the Potomac Urology in-house pharmacy, was expired. Potomac Urology is Klein's employer. 4.) I'm a 72 year old Mechanical Engineer. I don't get wrapped up over titles, we are all just people. I called Klein by his first name. He said I was being disrespectful because he wanted to be called: "Doctor"
The office has a history of NOT answering their phone. Even hospital staff can’t get thru.
Great bedside manner and goes over everything! Best kidney doc!!! Thank you so much!!
I had a phone consultation with him. He was intelligent and trained on different modalities for an enlarged prostate. The call ended suddenly. I was talking and he wasn't on the line. There was no, "Are there any more questions?", "Did you find this helpful?", "Keep in touch with me." It felt like the consult was on a timer. I questioned his assistant about this and got no answer. It was very strange.
All I can say is that Dr.Klein saved my life. I had a 3.5 cm renal mass carcinoma on my left kidney. Unfortunately the way the tumor was located my kidney wasn't able to be saved, but after surgery my recuperation was better that I expected. Dr.Klein and the office staff were attentive, friendly and prompt. I will always be greatful.
Some else said "ignorant. Unprofessional". Dr Klein is clearly not ignorant. Although he is comfortably casual I certainly would not classify him as unprofessional. I has a vasectomy done by doctor Klein. It was a procedure I was anxious about and Dr Klein's excellent bedside manner was extremely comforting for me. If you're a person that wants to know what's going on during a procedure a doctor who chats with you is wonderful. When Dr Klein applied local anethesia he did so skillfully and I didn't experience pain during the procedure. He was quick and efficient and the procedure was done in 15 minutes without issue. I would absolutely recommend Dr Klein to my friends.
Have had a number of visits and several procedures. The doctor seems competent, is informative and friendly.
Ignorant. Unprofessional.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
